I have been contiplating about selling off some of my older hot toys figures. I have come to the point where I know I will not display them unless I come across a bigger home...... The question is do I hold on to them to see if they ultimately go up in value or do I just sell them and put that toward new figures that I will display. Such as my Ghost Rider figure, I have never displayed it(never even opened it) but I might in the future get more money for it. What to do? Never really thought of selling my figures. Thanks to for your help.

if u like it so much, keep

if u so so like it, and not rushing for $$, keep else sell

if u no longer like it, sell when u feel the price is good or u need some $$ for new toys

You can never rely on a figure going up in value the longer you hold onto it. Ghost Rider is unlikely to be re-released, so maybe it will become a highly sought-after set. But I wouldn't bank on it.

A long time ago I learn that not matter what, if you have a buyer and they are willing to pay you for it. Take it. You never know. On items I don't want to sell I put a really high price on it. Twice I have two people say here you go.

These are Toys, keep that in mind. You posted you have never open Ghost Rider. Sorry but to me that is a sad. Sell it, you may take a lose but then again you may buy something that you will open.

You never know what you will get. Me I would have like to get a Ghost Rider with Bike but.

IF . . . you're buying/collecting those figure solely for monetary reasons (i.e. go up in value, etc.), then you're in the wrong hobby.

If you're buying/collecting figures solely because you enjoy & like the figure, then that's fine. If they happen to increase in value, then even better.

Just from your post . . . it reads as if the primary motivation is $. If that's the case, then sell them knowing there is no guarantee you'll recoup what you originally paid. If you do recoup what you paid and then some, then more power to you.

Right now . . . the hobby market mindset is not a seller's market, but a buyer's market. Don't expect anyone/everyone to immediately pay you what you want for it unless it's a very worthwhile price.

If you've never opened GR, then chances are the batteries have blown and it's depreciating rapidly.

:lol I forgot about the batteries. Question is, do you sell it MISB and let the buyer wear the risk, or open it to inspect and get stuck with any damage?

Well if the taps were never taken off. It could be Ok. But. In the end if there is damage you are going to eat the sellers, shipping to and back fees.

It might be ok, but batteries can still leak even with the tabs left in. I'd be checking that out toot sweet.

I don't know about that. Most HT figures rise in value once the sell-out. Alot of stuff does. If he has alot of older HT figures and he paid retail. He should 2x his money back.

Eventually, they WILL leak. It's not a question of if, just when.

MISB spells trouble with batteried figures.

Thanks for all of your replies. Money is not the real motivation, money would just let me buy even more figures. Most of the figures I got when I first started collecting like the avp predators and they do not look good displayed next to the newer predators. Also a lot of the new rereleases coming out would let me GT upgraded versions. I will probably post a list on here and see what happens. I will just have to figure out prices since this market fluctuates so much.
