Did they? I haven't seen that, do you have a link?

If that's the case I'll definitely get that as well as it will go better with my collection,
Which forum is that?
They're probably talking about Replica Prop Forum. And the post over there that they're referencing may be mine.
The Tomy guys said it in a livestream. I believe it was this one, somewhere near the end:

They'd already said in multiple Tomy videos that more would be on the way if this one succeeded, but I believe this livestream was the first time they explicitly said it would be the refit.

I did email them and ask them and they confirmed to me they will be doing more versions of the Enterprise but couldn't confirm which or when. My wallet will be cowering in the corner awaiting announcements of the A, D and E, lol.

I'd be on board for both the refit (prefer the original registry rather than -A) and the D.

I used to be pretty enthused by the -E in years past, but more recently I've cooled off on that design. On the other hand, I've become much more enamored with the TOS 1701 in recent years than I used to be.
A real nice model of the -E might be able to still sway me though, particularly if it's based on the physical studio model. I liked how the studio model looked on-screen way better than how it looked once they went full CG. Even beyond the realism aspect of physical models vs late 90s CGI, I didn't like how patchy and contrasty the hull "paint" became on the CG version. I greatly prefer the more subtle smooth greys of the physical model.
(This was a problem I had with Star Trek online designs too, they all started getting striped like zebras and I find it very unattractive. But I understand in the game world there is pressure to create contrasting skin variations that are discernible from a distance, necessitating those kinds of choices in that context.)

But I'd sooner like to see a Strange New Worlds Enterprise before the -E. Even though technically in canon the design hops back and forth a bit prior to TOS, it would be cool to have a sort of time progression display going from SNW>TOS>TMP. But I may be in the minority, I dunno.

Tomy sure is making it difficult to pay them! Like they've limited this whole campaign. Sheesh!

Which email is that? I've been running into issues with payment and Tomy, though nice about it, aren't very helpful with alternatives. Maybe the actual creators would be a bit more easy to work with.

I used the one on their website '[email protected]' and someone came back to me. Hope you get it sorted, mine was also charged automatically.

Yeah my problem comes from having to pay all on one card with only days notice (I am one of the late comers on finding out about it). We have funds spread out among several different sources. I sometimes run into the issue with Kickstarter too, but there's always been more flexibility and time to fix the issue.

What do you guys think will be the investment/resell of this piece considering the production numbers, apparent quality, fan base, and lack of public awareness the project even existed until near the end? I realize the Fandoms are completely separate but being of the age to grow up with both, I was originally going to pledge Haslab for the GIJoe Classified HISS. With this same $600 I could almost get 2 of those along with all the add-on unlocks. Also, they could be paid from two different sources. Which do you think is the better use of the money? Apparently quite a few have bought extras of the TOMY diecast so presumably there is expected to be a market for it. And I've seen asking prices for the MR Enterprise and proposed ENT. But those are way out of my price range. Are we thinking this could be the future fate of the TOMY? Several thousand dollars? This may well be my one chance to get an affordable truly professional model of the TOS within my price. What do you think? Time to go for it or not?

Do you expect this Tomy Enterprise could well become a holy grail down the line and this is a great chance, while the Haslab HISS will not hold up as well? I mean they're probably going to make like 20K+ of that so it's not really going to be super RARE by most standards But Joe may well be more popular now, and it does have the Mickey Mouse classic cobra commander going for it. That's bound to be fairly desirable -- if a bit less well known among the general Fandom. Plus it's a freaking 20 inch HISS with lights. Pretty sweet. But...If I could sell one of the HISS and have the money to buy the Tomy in the short run that would be great!

Like I said, fan of both, and not in it purely for return. Can't go wrong with either from the fan perspective, and yes I collect both (though lately it's been more Joe), but I also wish to at least try to have my head on straight when buying higher dollar collectibles. I'm not made of money, and payment plans are my usual go-to with anything this expensive. I AM willing to pay it all at once if the deal is just too good. But I'm not too happy about it right now. Is this a sound investment from all sides? I *might* be able to swing one of each, but unless I come into some good extra money by mid August I won't be able to buy 2 HISS *and* the TOMY TOS model.

The last time I looked, while the campaign was still active, there around 160 people who were pledged for two, and another 50 or so who were signed up for 3. If all those went through without a hitch, that might be 260 units that people will be looking to unload.
The sellers that are willing to ship internationally, and who are first to do it, will see the best immediate return.

After that it will probably be the sellers who are first to list, in general.

But if early prices spike too high, too fast- it's going to prompt other sellers to flood the market. When that happens, more potential buyers will see there's no real FOMO and will wait for the best deal to come along.

Also after a month or two of these being in backers hands, TOMY will start making noise about the refit coming- if not having the drive already in place at that point.
That will peel off more potential buyers of the TOS version who will see a better deal getting in on the next one- or who would rather have the refit more anyway.

Between the consistent series of new campaigns, and more advanced ship designs being more popular with more people, (and probably some missteps with the TOS fabrication they will learn from) the TOS ship might not end up being the gold mine some backers are expecting it will be. Or it just might take longer to sell than they anticipate, prompting many to settle for less to get rid of it sooner. These boxes are huge and not everyone is going to be able to comfortably warehouse extra stock indefinitely.
It will always have a place because it is THE classic Enterprise, but for a lot of people the newer ships will suffice just fine.

If I'd had the funds I would have been very tempted to get two- but at the same time, all these considerations were on my mind. I'm glad I don't have to deal with that.

Of course, I could end up being entirely wrong and after market prices on it will explode and demand remain consistent with the reveal of each new ship and funding promotion.
We'll see.

You have a point about the series of new campaigns being considered. I watched that livestream and the possibilities...owning a single or select few studio scale Star Trek items is one thing. To me it kinda seems less amazing and special when there are several. Not sure how they plan to swing that in the middle of a recession.

I feel the opposite. I think a few different ones will really complement each other on display. I would be down for quite a few others depending on what they do. If you don't like the multiple ship look don't buy more than one and everyone can be happy

Did I say only one? It's the same effect if your shelf is littered with a thousand action figures vs a nice tasteful display. Crowding tends to kill the visual. More is not necessarily better. That was my point. But yeah a single massive ship is pretty impressive on its own. I could see an office with one set up in place of an old time seafaring vessel.

If anyone from Australia was interested in this but disappointed that it was offered to the US only, EB Games/Zing are now offering it for pre order as well: EB Link

I was disappointed with the two update pics shown a week or so ago. Is this the latest pics you're going by? While those were far from inclusive, it did point out two things for sure. One being, Not that it didn't look like the original Enterprise but that it looked *too much* like the og model and not like the HD version. Meaning minimal detail. And absent the neat silverish glaze shown in the promos. I suppose that means I was expecting something closer to the Refit. But it was eye catching and serene looking. Like a proper centerpiece should. This deco just didnt grab me at all. I also think the combo of a clear & brass base is too jarring they way they did it.

If they manage to properly deco the Refit (if it happens), I might buy that. But as it is (and we'll see once reviews start to come in whether this bears true or changes) my gut feeling is I dodged a bullet through my "unfortunate circumstance" billing.

This gives me concerns about the current BTTF project. There were already some things about that I thought they could do better. One being the rod is *plastic* not metal? Come on. And of course the whole colored wires fiasco that almost became a meme it was so talked about. Only after they started dropping pledges did they bother to address that. The Kool-Aid some people seem to be drinking about "just be lucky it's being made at all" vs "This is an outrage no colored wires! I'll sue!" made for high comedy. But Tomy's silence about the whole thing until it became evident they HAD to do something was pretty telling of their willingness to commit to full accuracy.

Yeah the latest pics with the plug holes. The prototype actually looks better.

Does anyone have links to these progress photos?
