I haven't heard anything about Toyfair until this week, so I thought I'd start this thread for anybody to post in with news or pics.

I just finished a project yesterday for a new company that might actually be at Toyfair next week.

Congrats man, will definitely keep an eye out for your work (not that I'll be there...but here on the boards...in 'photo' form! :wink1:)

Unfortunately, Toyfair is not a public convention like Comic Con. It's only an industry convention (companies only), and Sideshow feels no need to make the effort to go to New York for it anymore. They used to years ago, but not for a long time.

And since Sideshow is the official U.S. based face of Hot Toys, Hot Toys also will not make an appearance.

They have in the past offered online exclusives in honor of Toyfair, but no guarantees.

I work across the street from the Javits center so I see the massive set up for Toy Fair...

When I was in Jr high school i looked forward to Toyfair more than Christmas. We used to get "teachers vacation" two days off around tht time and I would stay glued to the computer.

Now that I live in NY and see the event across the street and imagine the awesomeness just feet away it's even more infuriating I can't get in.

Hey Dave and sideshowcollectors... wanna appoint me your honorary reporter and get me in on a press pass? I would have many memory cards full of coverage lol :D

:goodpost:

I hope HT is there showcasing some new stuff

:lol Nope

This is TOY fair, not collectible Fair. There isn't a lot of high end stuff anymore. Sideshow stopped going a few years ago because they finally realized it wasn't doing anything for them. Toyfair is primarily meant to inform retailers of what new products your company will have coming to toy shelves this year. So for companies like Hasbro and Mattel, this is a HUGE deal! This is where they'll sell the Avengers and TDKR toys to walmart, target, toysrus, etc.

HT and Sideshow aren't selling there so its not for them. Sideshow did usen't to have a 'online' Toyfair for us during the show in place of them going, but they didn't last year and I don't think they will celebrate it at all again this year.

You have no idea how many times I've wished that same thing for SDCC :lol

I can be your backup, I'll carry all your gear while you take pictures :yess::hi5:

Is Toyfair like comic con? Lots of Hot Toys and Sideshow?

ha ha ha, i guess you didnt read any posts before yours then. :

Im glad this thread started, ive been looking forward to see what the major companies are going to be bringing out this year. Lookin forward to Mattel, Hasbro, and Neca and just anything new and different.

I'll be there doing press coverage. If anyone has any particular questions they want asked to companies, I can give it a shot, but no guarantees I'll be able to ask since I'll be running around between different booths a lot!
