I know that Christmas is 2 weeks away.
I was wondering if anyone one the message board donates to TOYS FOR TOTS?
I have in the past and I'm going to donate some of my Harry Potter figures on Saturday.
I need to make room for my new Hot Toy Predators so Harry and his pals are going to make way.
My twin brother (Darth Trafford) just donated a boat load of Star Wars action figures on Tuesday. We went to a nearest drop of point(a fire station) and we carried in 2 trash bags full of toys.
Needless to say we filled the donation boxes to the top.:D

The reason we donate is because when we were growing up our father passed away when we were young. My mom raised 4 kids by herself. Some people in her office got us toys that year. I'll never forget that act of kindness from people I never knew.

I'm a big Toys For Tots guy myself. The first year I donated I gave away about 100 carded SW figures that I collected during the late 90s. Since then I typically go to Target after Christmas for all their steep clearances on toys and load up for the following year. I still need to drop off this year's stuff though.

Thanks for the reminder about Sunday... I need to drop off some toys. A really great charity :lecture

I just saw on CNN that they are getting significantly less stuff than usual this year. They had these huge bins that would usually be filled with stuff to go to certain age groups, that were completely empty. Sucks.

I didn't do toys for tots but I did a angel tree donation. Where you take a paper angel off of a tree that has things kids want on them and I got a 9 yr old named Jake who wanted Dark Knight figures and he's in a homeless shelter so I went to Walmart and got him some Dark Knight goods. :) My sister did it also and got a 6 yr old named Gunnar a Iron Man figure and a Transformers figure.

My wife's work always does a foster kid adoption where you pick a kid and buy them stuff so we have done that the last 6 years.

The church I go to has a wishing tree at the front of the church.
Little kids that have almost nothing in the community make a list of things they need like clothes and toys.
The list are in envelopes on the tree and if you want to help you go up and pick a name off the tree.
My mother has done this in the past and did it again this year. Some of the list this year are almost heartbreaking. The kids don't want clothes or toys they want jobs for their moms and dads and not to get thrown out of their home.:(

I usually donate a couple of hundred dollars worth of stuff as I shop good clearance sales all year long. Unfortunately this year money is real tight and I can't give as much and feel like crap for it. I managed to pick up about $60 worth of stuff. I'll make it up next year...

I donated to Toys for Tots after Thanksgiving by dropping off my extra Dark Knight Movie Masters toys at a Toys R Us. Hope some lucky kids get to spend Christmas with Batman, Joker, and Scarecrow!:banana :rock

Well my mom and I don't have much this year, but I donated and she did as well. My grandfather (mom's dad) was a Marine and so every year we donate in his memory.

I've donated almost every year. I just hope the toys go to truely needy kids and not just posers. We have alot of that around here.

If this is for the Salvation Army, the toy won't go to the one you pick. They just use that as an example. I used to do their tree every year and really do up a great package for my child, only to find out they open the gift and seperate it out. I don't bother now, I just put money in their pot.

Awwwww.....that's sad! :(

What I hate is when you find names on the wish trees and they want games for their playstation 3s or blu-ray movies.

Yep,that'd be the one. Thanks for giving me a heads up on that! I don't mind though as long as I'm able to give someone something.:)

Yeah, that's heartbreaking stuff, wow. When you hear about that stuff it makes you realize you should stop complaining you Know?

At the place I work everyone on the night crew donated $20 each and we collected enough money not for toys for tots but for toys for teens.
We got enough money to buy 2 Mountain Bikes 1 for a girl and 1 for a boy.
Our union rep dropped them off to the charity.:D
