I have never actually watched the cartoon of transformers ( don't think I was young enough to grow up with them ).
Is that a good enough excuse ?.:rotfl

Anyway , I'm one of the few who actually enjoyed the movie and really like some of the desgins , I know for a fact some of them could make awesome statues. Were the desgins too tricky for any company to crack or has no one simply bothered ?.
I know theres the cheaper stuff but I mean like high end statues.

Your joking right? :lol Theres tons of stuff based on the G1 movie and the Bay movie.

This thread should go in the Aliens and Robots Category.

Edit: Doesn't sideshow have a bust of Optimus and Bumblebee from the new movie?

That is a good question. I was thinking that it is probably the high cost for the company to make a Transformer with all the complex details. I would personally love to see a High End movie version of Optimus Prime even if he doesn't transform.

Yeah , thats the exact thing I'm talking about. You've managed to put it better than me .:lol
Something like a sideshow pf. Obviously not 1/4 but something to that degree of detail.
I've always thought it may be the little complex things that have stopped companies from making one.
I'm still interested in what Centrocal was talking about though too..

Whilst thats cool I would still love to see some whole statues of them rather than busts.
To be honest I think with a transformer ( or maybe just the movie ones anyway ) to make a bust or replica of a certain part of its structure seems a little strange. Since they need everything to transform you know...

That thing looks no better than my kids 30$ Prime voice changer from Hasbro.

I really want a 1:1 prop replica of the allspark cube. I know some dudes on the RPF might have made one already but apparently my Gmail account and I aren't special enough to join. Dicks.

that would be cool.

Some of the Hasbro Transformers are really cool, but it would be awesome if Sideshow made some statues of Optimus and the gang like this statue of the Fallen:

whilst I think thats going to be one of my least favorite designs ( just looks a little anorexic for me ) thats basically what I'm talking about.
All the little details all over its body. I think the cartoon transformers are much less detailed so when statues like this are made...

it's obviously much easier than making something like the photo you posted.
Quite a big change in design really.. what was the inital fans of the series reaction when they seen the movie transformers ?.

I know what you mean here, in the movie and in my opinion there were a lot of times where the actual build of the transformers had shades and other ways of not showing the real build. I don't know if this is the case but it seems to be there was an overall build and just several random "ridges" or so added to the 3d.

:lol Thought so !.
Its hard not to preffer the movie designs when its all I'm used to and have no tie to the original story line but I can see why the original design has its appeal.
Plus... well... its the original.

Have you watched the G1 movie ? Its everything that was great about the 80's.

nope but I'm going too now.
Do I need to know anything about the series before watching it ?. Like who all the characters are etc ?.

I feel an idiot not knowing all this since I pretty much worship 80s crap !.:rotfl

I guess I didn't spend enough time on cartoons as a kid and went on too arnold , stallone and van damme too early !. :horror

The only cartoon I remember being so awesome was Dinoriders , I wish I had more awesome cartoon memories. :sick:lol

All you need to know is Grimlock is a badass! Bumblebee actually says "sht!" unbleeped! Megatron And Optimus really do have a fight to the death, Hot rod turns into a winnebago! And theres a freakin Weird Al Song! :chew

Also Unicron was voiced by Orson Welles in his last role. And it has the voices of Leonard Nimoy, Casey Kasem, Eric Idle and Scatman Crothers.
