I just ordered this through the Earlybird Pre-Order.
Edition Size say's it's Limited to Only 400.
That seems Really Low for Aragorn?
Definitely think it's worth jumping on with such a Low ES.

This is their new system. They set the edition size judging by how many people sign up for the early bird e-mail. They don't want any more limited edition statues appearing in sales. Which probably means higher prices for lower edition sizes.

Too many idiots complained about the sales, what a bummer.

It's a long time since the Sideshow\Weta days. While well known and liked LOTR was never the most popular license, and a smaller minority on most collecting forum s not solely focused on middle earth like The One Ring and Udûn...

I never thought Weta should have made some of their ed. sizes as large as they were, 1200+, 1500... way to many. And I'll say it, buying something at full price only to see it sell for basically half off on a "liquidation" sale was a burn.

That all may change once P1 starts rolling stuff out.

Yea, of course it hurts, but you can't always expect to never pay too much for something, that's life. If you were smart you waited, it's been like that for years, but you risk selling out so there is a trade off. There were more than a few over on Udun going crazy about the sales crying and moaning and saying they contacted weta about it. What a bunch of morons, don't punish others for your choices.

Don't be stupid, and don't be selfish. Weta didn't do this because a handful of people complained to them. They were clearly going to do this anyway, you're just looking for someone to blame as you're bummed you can't get stuff for cheap anymore. If you can't afford something, grow up and accept it, don't cry like a baby. That's life.
If you're smart you wait? So you expect no-one to pre-order and expect Weta to do nothing, but put limited edition statues in sales? They've said themselves they don't want LE statues in sales. That's not because of any e-mail they have been sent, that's their new sales team making a decision and, of course, selling statues off on the cheap is not a good or viable business decision. Great for you sure, but not for business.
Don't punish others? You mean don't rock your gravy train. You're happy for others to pay too much, so you can pay less? Morons and idiots indeed.

Sure, for items that they haven't been able to sell for over a year. My issue was with Eomer. Not even a year and already heavily discounted.
They'll continue with sales, I look forward to the minis and the Hobbit holes, open edition stuff. They just don't want limited edition stuff to be hanging around the warehouse, and that's up to them, their decision. If we're lucky we'll still see the older stuff in sales that haven't sold out yet, up to and including Grishnakh and maybe even Arwen. This early bird e-mail isn't a new thing, they used it for Treebeard and the Ringwraith, and both sold out quickly, and before any angry e-mails sent to Weta. They implied themselves in their reply that their strategy was changing, so it was already happening with no influence from customers. This is obviously the new way of doing things. They just drastically underestimated the popularity of Aragorn, and should be kicking themselves. To sell out a new product before even being put up for general order is just embarrassing for them.

Yes, it is up to them and you better believe people complaining had some influence, it sure isn't the first time, previous sales were no different. It ends up worse this new way, we either get a too low ES piece that sells out too fast or pieces with higher prices because less are being made. Then you get into a vicious circle where stock doesn't sell due to higher prices and they make less and less of future items, and the per piece price goes up more and more pricing even more people out of the hobby. It was mostly fine how they did it before, sell most at regular price and give those that gambled a sale if there are any left.

The people who ordered at regular price should be happy for those that got the deals, not complain about it to weta so they feel better about paying full price, that is the selfish ones IMO. Grumbling on the boards is one thing, but to actually call up weta to complain is crazy. We all overpay sometimes, part of the hobby, it's got nothing to do with being able to afford it or not. This new strategy isn't going to work as well for them I don't think, they are going to get even more nasty emails now for people that missed the new piece so hopefully it balances back out.
