It has been announced that WETA Workshop is the next company to take a shot at making Planet of the Apes merchandise. IMG_7154.JPG

Looks like they will be unveiling their first planned offerings at this summer's SDCC.

I'm guessing the first set of silhouettes, due to their cartoony appearance, are going to be part of WETA's Mini Epics line of vinyl figurines.

The first one is obviously Dr. Zaius, then Cornelius and lastly Dr. Zira.

And studying the pose, it looks like Cornelius is either holding Taylor's paper airplane or reading a sacred scroll.

I was one of the the few that pre-ordered that piece from Pop Culture Shock... after MUCH deliberation due to the price tag. But it was WAY TOO ambitious for it's own good.

My favorite Ape piece is still the Dr. Zaius Premium Format figure. I just need to find someone to give it a good repaint.

Weta will reel me in just like Neca did and then kill the line halfway through. I've got a bunch of neca apes but no humans.

I'm thinking that this new line might be for only this year due to the anniversary.

Zaius is a definite!!!

Love the style of these!

Hopefully we will see pictures of the other statues WETA has planned for this line at SDCC!

I would love to see someone do the Icarus spaceship in 1/6 and you could left the hatch and place a taylor 1/6 figure in it, I know this will never happen, but it's ok to dream.

To each his own on the style, I was hoping for a serious accurate 1/6 statue line, these look like cartoon figurines.

Same here. I'm disappointed and don't like these at all. I was hoping for the canceled Ursus on the horse to be resurrected.

I remember seeing that Ursus on the horse statue, I think it was 1/3, that was the best looking statue I have seen in all my years of collecting, why was it cancelled? I remember it being around $1,200.

The PCS statue was 1:4 scale and I seem to remember it was around $800.
