Thanks for the link Josh. My buddy Tim is a big steampunk and old sci-fi enthusiast. I'll forward this link to him because I know he'll jump at the chance to purchase those ray guns; he really loves this stuff. You should see the inside of his house it's pretty damn cool.

No problem. Nice! Yeah, please do. The folks at Weta are really amazing folks and make some damn nice stuff.

Stuff like the Argonath was sold out several hours ago (sold out right after I bought one). So me posting the link to the newsletter didn't hurt anyone. I think you're making a much bigger deal out of it than needs to be.

Bummer, worked a 12hr shift today so just got home. Checked my email and had this. Would have loved to grab the Arganoth and/or Bag End! Great deals to those who got it. Ah well, plenty else out there!

Yeah, it was great timing for this newsletter. I was in search of the Argonath piece and even had a WTB thread going on here. Saw on FB this newsletter was coming so I was hoping it would be there and when I saw it was I was really quite pleased. Cost $286 to get it shipped to the US but really glad I could get it.

Nice! Glad you were able to pay regular price for it! Looks like a great piece.

Thanks! Yeah, I passed on it when it came out originally because of a dumb girl. Glad, I could fix that mistake and especially for retail. When it arrives I'll take plenty of pics and review it for TORn.

Looking forward to that review, although it will likely only make me want it more! And don't sweat that girl, they have the ability to cloud our judgement! I could tell ya a story or two... :cuckoo:

Well, I hope folks will enjoy it and I'll try to not make things worse for ya. :lol I long ago forgot about her and moved on to better things ahead.

Luckily my partner *grudgingly* accepts my collection, he says it's ok because i was collecting SSW before i met him, but he always wants me to trim it down when new stuff arrives, and alarm bells ring if something new - not LOTR - comes out i want! Just got away with the Potter busts i think!
I think it's important for any partner to understand our collecting. It's our hobby and it doesn't hurt anyone. They should see it as a future investment!

Beats other hobbies by a mile, especially if you are a shrewd, astute buyer. My hobby basically pays for itself and my wife knows that now after all these years.

It's tough, sometimes i know i am way overpaying buying from the flippers but just cant help myself because i want that piece NOW! But i agree in general if you have a sharp appreciation and some good senses to pick the right pieces, it pays for itself.

BTW unrelated, anyone know what the deal is with those gilbert guns? They look nice in an odd way but the 1:1 cost a lot of money, do the guns actually do anything? like lights up etc..? I got the mini Unnatural Selector that was on sale at 50% off, $67 shipped to US. It's still quite large at 12" and looks very strange lol.

ps josh thanks for the link! wish i clicked on this thread earlier to pickup the argonath, very imposing looking piece.

How did you justify to the wife that this hobby pays for itself? As far as mine is concerned . . .it's a blackhole. Money goes in . . .and nothing comes out. :rotfl

No problem gag. Just want folks to know Weta has some great items for sale. I about fell over when I saw the argonath after kicking myself for not getting it the first time.

A poster somewhere mentioned getting a dented box version for somewhere in the 85 dollar range from a third party seller. 99 was a good deal though. I don't think it was once in a lifetime though. I have both the CE and OE now and would probably only get about that much for the OE if I sold it on ebay.

Radagaster, my secret is not a secret. Buy lots, sell individually. Oh and buy Lego on sale after Xmas.

I've been eyeballing that Smaug all day. Checked again after a few glasses of wine and it's gone. Probably a good thing. :lol
