Re: WGP's Classic Star Trek (1:6 Navigation helm question)

No, I recall that, but it tends to exclude a number of collectors. Seeing the boot may enable me, and perhaps others, to see if they think they may be able to modify the body [if not HT] they use so that they don't have barefooted crewmen.
And, as someone who ordered your kirk heads, I truly didn't realize that they were to be made solely for HT bodies and would not come with necks as in the photos.

Re: WGP's Classic Star Trek (1:6 Navigation helm question)

I need to start saving right away because I WANT IT ALL!!!!!!

Seriously though, what type of body would I need to get to fit your heads? I'm a complete newbie and need some advice. Thanks!

Re: WGP's Classic Star Trek (1:6 Navigation helm question)

Can everything be bought separately?

Yes, you will be able to buy the heads, boots, accessories, dioramas, and costume sets individually to buy just what you want/need.:)

Welcome to the thread! Hot Toys bodies and TTL bodies are the right sized bodies. TTL are a little cheaper but Hot Toys has different sizes and body types (though not are always kept in current production so may be harder to find).

The Hot Toys "slim" body is slightly shorter for smaller characters.
The Hot Toys muscled body might be good for an eventual Kahn. (Excuse me, I mean KAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHN!) Some people have mentioned wanting to use that body for Kirk too. :)

And herein lies a small problem, because most of the HT muscle bodies have an integrated neck. The HT Captain America is a muscle body that allows for a head with a sculpted neck, but it lacks the contoured detail of the chest that other muscle bodies incorporate. For a figure like Kahn, I'd definitely want to use a standard muscle body, because a good portion of his chest is exposed with a couple of his outfits (TWOK outfit and gold "dinner" jacket from 'Space Seed'). Likewise, I want to use a HT Bruce Lee body for "Naked Time" swashbuckling Sulu, which has an integrated neck. Some people might also want to use Kaustic Plastic bodies, which also have integrated necks. So, my question is this: could these heads be offered in versions with neck and without neck? I'm not sure what your molding process involves - would the omission of the neck on a small run of these heads be a big deal for you guys to pull off? Seems like a solution that would make everyone happy?

It only makes sense to offer certain heads without necks for just the reason you state in special occasions for chest baring characters like Kaaaaaaahhhhhhhn and a drunken Sulu. And I suppose for ***-You-Up Kirk as well if he's in his casual green V-neck. :).

As for making every head neckless, it would really come down to the number of people interested for us to do it because it means printing a second version of each head, prepping it, and molding which is really time we could be using on a whole new character head.

Re: WGP's Classic Star Trek (1:6 Navigation helm question)

Modifying a head to fit on an integrated neck(nice term)is no big deal. All you need is a saw, a Dremel tool,Epoxy putty and a bit of patience(granted, that last part is a stretch for many).Cut the neck close to your final contour, then finish it up with the Dremel tool.Make sure to leave a little room for the neck post.Mix up enough Putty to make a clean contact with the post, spray said post with some sort of mold release(cooking spray will do),squish the post, remove the post and let it cure. If you're so inclined, you can gently turn the edge of the socket to grab the post,if having a removeable head is your goal. The "turned edge"works best on a post with a ball, but might do with a tapered cone as well if you're careful. So, does that really sound complicated, or do I need to post pix of the process?...PS

Well, it sounds a little complicated and pic tutorials are always appreciated. :) As stated, I'm mainly concerned about neckless versions for the characters who are going to show a little skin (the aforementioned Kaahhhhhhn, drunken Sulu, sexed-up Kirk in wraparound tunic, and "Mirror, Mirror" Kirk, for that matter), because I reaaallly want to use the extra-detailed muscle bodies for them. For a character like Spock or McCoy, an advanced TT slim would work just fine, Kirk (in standard tunic) could use the Captain America muscle body, and the head with sculpted neck isn't a problem...

I'm also still trying to wrap my brain around a body for an eventual Uhura figure. There are a few choices for Rand, but African-American female figure body choices are EXTREMELY limited; factor into that the fact that "Mirror, Mirror" Uhura is midriff-baring (and so a seamless, yet articulated, torso would be desirable), and it becomes even more problematic to find a suitable body. :dunno

Re: WGP's Classic Star Trek (1:6 Navigation helm question)

Hey gang, a few updates to kick off your weekend! First, a peek at
Sulu, WIP Revision two, by Oscar Sick:

Second, a look at WGP's completed tri-corder with two flip open panels by lead artist Sean Dabbs:

Then lastly, we wanted to show off Sean's finished sculpted Star Trek boots from a few months back again, now completed. WGP will still be working on making real leather ones but we are also going to still also offer the sculpted ones as well since we made them. Sean did these coming off of sculpting Big Chiefs 11th Doctor shoes and accessories so he was really firing on all cylinders with both the Tri-corder and the boots. He always blows me away with his detailing! :)

Have A GREAT WEEKEND!
-Rick :)

Just want to update and say the "Scotty" head was assigned to Oscar this weekend as he is wrapping up Sulu now. I am going for serious expressions first. Variants can come later. (smiling, drunk, etc-laugh)

Really looking forward to serious Scotty. Hopefully he will make wave 2.

Re: WGP's Classic Star Trek (1:6 Navigation helm question)

Do we have an eta on the release of that first Kirk sculpt?

He's been printed and now we are just looking at it trying to decide how fancy we want to go with texture and if we we want to try and experiment with another printer.

Since he's kicking off our main Trek line and since he's Kirk, we really want to push the limits farther on him if we can to set a new bar texture wise. It won't be too much longer, because no matter what we have the current print.

I do want to announce I just got the first peek at the Scotty WIP this weekend from Oscar as well, so the crew is really coming together.

William Shatners Toupee-
Any news on offering painted heads? You've mentioned it was a possibility and would certainly simplify my life. :)

I like the sound of this. Take all the time you need if it means getting the awesome Kirk I'm hoping for.

Sounds good!
Do we know what the cost of painting per head might be [estimates are great!] and is there a site he has to see his style and works?

Re: WGP's Classic Star Trek (1:6 Navigation helm question)

Cool! Thank you.
If you can EMAIL is usually better and quicker.
Thanks again!

Re: WGP's Classic Star Trek (1:6 Navigation helm question)

Here are some examples of my work my friend https://petespaintworks.blogspot.com
I will pm you with my price shortly

I would be very interested in you doing the paint jobs, the stuff on your blog looks amazing. Please tell me how much it would cost per head (I'm absolutely sure there will be lots of heads coming my way!).

Thanks,

Horst
