Hey gang,

I'd like to eventually add something from Robotech to my collection and was wondering if we have any collectors here. What are the "Premium Formats" of Robotech collectibles? I'm referring to quality *only*, not rarity or necessarily value.

Any 1/4 scale figures of Rick Hunter? What about the veritechs/valkyries themselves?

I'm doing some searching around on ebay and robotech.com, there are some cool 1/48 scale fighters and sculpted bookends but figured someone here might be able to clue me in if there better items available.

I had a pretty cool veritech years ago, but I don't remember who made it. I do know it was Japanese made.

EDIT: I saw this eBay auction. I had the one on the left:

The Masterpiece series from Toynami was nice too, although my guess is the Yamato's are probably superior. The Masterpieces looked very good and transformed well, but felt a bit flimsy.

Do you know how the 2 compare fat hobbits?

Darth Waller: how much did that one go for? I remember back in 02 when I was in Sydney, a shop had it sealed I believe, asking $4000. That armor is sweet!

In terms of Mecha, There is nothing that is better than the 1/48 scale Valk from Yamato.

In terms of Character figures, Probably your best bet would be to find Garage kits and paint them or have someone paint it for you if painting is not your thing.

There are some really nice cheaper priced items like the CM's trading figures but if you're looking for Big scale High end these are not for you (Small about 4-6 inches)

I am a HUGE Macross collector myself and own tons of stuff, so that's what I would reccomend

There is also a REALLY nice SDF-1 coming out by WAVE in January next year-

It's a bit small tho but has a perfect transformation.

The Yamatos are superior without a doubt. The only thing really good about the Toynamis are the boxes. In terms of Proportion, sculpt, expression the 1/60 Yamatos outclass the Toynami in just about every aspect. The only thing Toynami has over the Yamato is the fact the Yamato legs have to be removed to transform from Fighter -> Battroid but Toynamis have those 2 really ugly bars at the hips when in Battroid mode, while the 1/60 looks great and more dynamic in Battroid mode (altho the legs have to be removed when transforming). I wont even start with comparing a Toynami with a 1/48 Yamato... That's just totally unfair.

Vintage valks used to go for a fortune. They are more affordable now since ppl have so many choices for valks. But Sealed "Virgins" would still fetch great $$$$

Honestly I have to Toynami Mechs, but I think the Yamato toys are almost perfect. Other than that I agree on everything Tendou-Kabuto just said.

Do yourself a favor and get one of the Yamatos, they are just mind blowing

Thats about what I figured, but I haven't seen a Yamato in person... but I did sell the only Toynami one I had because I never really felt the need to display him. I'll probably get one of the Yamato one then!

I can't seem to find the auction now. Sorry.

Personally I like the Masterpiece in terms of Valkyrie but in terms of figures Toynami seems to have doing some real quality 1/6

The popular opinion Is Yamato is better than Toynami but there are of course ppl who prefer Toynami. I myself am a Yamato believer. I just think their valks blows toynami's away. I do think that Toynami's Legioss's are good tho.

I think Toynami did a Good job with Hikaru. The body sucks but the head and outfit are great. I also wish he was a little thinner.

Bring on the flight suits!

Bumping all the Robotech threads! :rock

Tendou, which is the best Yamato VF-1J (Rick Hunter) and VF-1S (Roy Fokker)? I am intrigued by the Yamato Mechs now.

I'm interested to see how much they warp the Veritechs in the new film....

The Popbox Hikaru (Rick) Flight Suit is nice looking:

I'll definitely add the Max to my collection (He always was my favorite) and by the looks of things (this image is old but many of the items are set to preorder from import sites) this line will continue:
