I picked up The Road today....I was shocked to discover it is an Oprah's book club whatever book. It's by Cormack McCarthy who wrote Blood Meridian which is one of the finest books I have ever laid my eyes upon (possibly the great american novel). It is not for the kiddies, but I would recommend it to everyone here fo' sure. I'll let you know how The Road is but in the meantime go find Blood Meridian!!!!!!

All the reading I do is right here on this board.

How sad:eek:

momma always said...doesn't matter what you're reading as long as your reading.

I am currently reading The Children of Hurin and Homer's Illiad. I just ordered some of the Hellboy graphic novels so I will soon be reading those as well. :)

I've started A Wild Sheep Chase by Haruki Murakami. I just finish The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by him, and it was one of the best books I've read in a long time.

Wee-yurd. I just finished Wind-up Bird Chronicles about 2 months ago. Great book. (sexy in a weird surreal kinda way). I think it cries out to be japanimated.

While I was reading it I got a definite David Lynch vibe from it. Very surreal stuff! I highly recommend it.

I was so drawn it by how the story change from present day to WWII and back again. The stories could have been two completely separate books, but they fit together so well.

Yes the midget jet:lol

How sad is it that I know exactly which plane that is.

I an 2/3 thru the Darth Bane book, and I started this morning at the airport, yeah what a shock I was at an airport.

Started yesterday: McGee on Food & Cooking: An Encyclopedea of Kitchen Science, History and Culture. And, in between I'm finishing "the Children of the Jedi" novel. I'm 're-reading' that actually.

The last thing I read was one of the Legacy Star Wars comics, those are pretty good. But I'd like to read the rest of the NJO series, I started 9 books into it and haven't read the first ones.

double-wierd - I read Wild Sheep Chase about 10 years ago. I seem to remember I was a big Murakami fan.

Just finished A Dirty Job - Christopher Moore - very funny fantasy writer. Kind of like Doug Adams, but not so out there.

Currently reading Vellum, Civil War trades and a really crappy Star Wars novel - black fleet crisis.

For all the Murakami fans - and there seems to be quite a few here! - you should check out Kafka On The Shore. It's a slow starter, but one of my fave reads of the last twelve months. Wonderful stuff!

The Road I enjoyed a lot too. Very, very atmospheric and, scary and hugely touching. Must read Blood Meridian...

At the moment I'm reading Nirvana: The True Story by Everett True. Not my usual choice, but always have a soft spot for Cobain and co. After that I'll prob dive into Moby Dick, though I'm a little weary of such a massive, weighty text.

Being dyslexic, I've adopted the stance that reading rots your mind. Watching TV, it's fundamental! :D
