What's the best way to get compressed styrofoam off a statue?

My LCS has a piece for sale. It's mint, except for the thing was packed in tight with the Styrofoam and some of it has stuck to the piece itself. What is the best remedy to take Styrofoam residue off a polystone surface?

if it's stuck to the paint you could try goof off (the product).
