which is better? The PSP or PSPGO? I want to be able to play PSP games, watch/put movies on it, put my Sega Genesis Emulator and Sega Genesis Roms on it, and be able to plug it into my TV.

Any Advice?

Thanks so much

Nick

The PSP Go basically has all the functionality of the standard PSP without the need (or capability) to use physical copies of games. It's all digital. Prior to the price drop, I would have argued against buying a PSP Go, but since it dropped $50 in price recently, I suppose there's no reason not to go with that one if you don't already have an older PSP.

To be absolutely honest, unless you really really want to splay particular PSP exclusive games right now, I recommend that you wait a little while. Everyone expects Sony to reveal the PSP 2 sometime next year (most likely during E3 in June).

Ok Thanks for the tips. :)

I have never owned a PSP.

well, AFAIK you can't Plug EITHER system into your television.

The psp is large and bulky.

The PSPgo can only play games you download from the Sone station store.

answer
Wait for the PSP2 and see if it's any better.
while you wait get a nintendo 3ds.
After i got my Ds, i stopped touching my psp.

I'd still get a regular PSP because of the fact that you can buy used games at Gamestop or Amazon for dirt cheap. If you track down an older one you can hack it to play some emulation software which I don't know if it's possible on the Go yet. Grab a 16GB memory stick and you're good to go.

Yeah you can, there's some cable that allows you to hook it up and play it on your TV.

But as said, the PSP2 will probably be coming out next year so I wouldn't buy the PSP

Especially not PSPGo, it's not any better.

I say PSP. I wouldn't want to own a digital-only game system since you can't get used games like hairlesswookiee said.

You can get a regular PSP for dirt-cheap on Craigslist in petty much any city within North America. If you're just using it for emulating/etc... just get one that's already flashed and comes with cables.

PSP2000 and PSP3000 series both have AV ports to allow you to plug the system into a TV.

As far as why you would want to plug a portable system into your TV, not all portable gaming systems are played on the go. I've played my PSP, DS, and Gameboy SP on many occasions while at home. PSP gives you the option to play on a larger screen. I like having that option, even if I may choose not to use it.

I much prefer the PSP because I can play emulated games (SNES, Genesis, NES). Additionally, I can put my PSP games on a memory card and experience reduced loading times (it isn't illegal if you won the game) so it is similar to the PSPGo in that sense (you have to find a model that takes custom firmware though).

Besides that, there are three major cons to owning a PSPGo:
1. Not all games come to the Go.
2. The screen is smaller.
3. Games that are a few months old are usally more expensive for the Go as you are dependent on the Playstation Store. With the original PSP model, prices depend on supply and demand.
