Why do you choose to buy a figure: FILM or FIGURE?

I have been going back and forth between several figures. I like the Rambo III figure but the Rambo I movie is the best, so I have the Rambo I figure. I like Spider-Man I and II, but not III. But, HT is only releasing the Spider-Man III figure. I am not sure whether to purchase it or not. (I probably will buy it!) I went through this with Barney Ross as well. The movie is OK, but the figure is awesome. In the end, I bought the figure because I am an addict.

So, I am asking all of you Freaks out there. Do you buy a figure because the movie is great? Or, do you buy a figure because the figure is great?

A mixture of both. With Spider-Man, he looks about the same in all the movies, so it doesn't really matter if the figure's box says Spider-Man 3 on it.

Bit of both, I guess. High quality figures of my favorite characters. More character than movie, though ... I wouldn't care about Spider-man 3 specifically, but about the Spider-man character/series as a whole.

I buy the character not the film. The rare occasion a character has more than figure, I will buy the version I like best. IMO the character makes the film not vise versa.....In your situation, Rambo III is one of the best representations of the character (not necessarily the best film) but I'd still buy Rambo III. Just my preference tho.....

Movie, I won't buy a collectible from a movie I didn't like. I build my collection around movies I like.

Character over movie. A movie can be really sh&tty BUT if the character is cool enough, Ill break down and buy it...

Film is important but figure is more important for me. talking about HT headsculpt quality plays a big part on my decision.

A little bit of both. I have bought and will buy figures because of their quality and other instead of the movie:

1- Perseus
2- Ghost Rider (on preorder)
3- Christopher Reeve Superman (I want it because of the actor, I don't like Superman at all)
4- DX Jack Sparrow (I want it because of the character, don't like Johnny Depp)
5- Resident Evil Alice (I want it because I'm in love with Milla Jovovich <3)

And so on and so forth. I have even bought figures I don't have idea what they are, but they were cheap, so price point is also a factor. I want Robocop but for $1000+ no thanks, you can keep it.

Bit of both, but mostly film. I really liked Ironman 1 the movie and I got the HT Mark1 and Mark3 figures. But I didnt really enjoy IM2 that much so Im skipping on all the HT IM2 figures except for maybe Mark V.

I deliberated with myself on Blade for a long time. Like you, not really a fan of the films but the character and figure looked cool. However I let it pass by in the end.

FILM and the characters that make that film a memorable or leave me with quite an impression. I don't care how great a figure looks, if the film is nnot an enjoyable one, or doesnt leave me with a certain feeling, there's no reason for me to get 'em.

Only reason -- I like the character of Superman in comics, and I want a Supes to go with my other super-heroes. As for the Depp, I know HT will make a stunning figure, and that character has a crazy wardrobe that will make the figure insane, visually et.

Those Pirates' flicks with Depp are also trash IMO.

Primarily Film... I will make some exceptions if the character is only released from a lesser film (like Spiderman 3 or Wolverine Origins) if their is little to no difference between the appearance.

But, if there is a figure of the same quality from the better film I'll always go with the original.

It depends. Sometimes the movie is good but the figure does not look accurate or the movie is not so good but the figure looks really realistic.

My collection is made up of:

1. military figures (WWII mostly)
2. film figures from movies I thought were awesome (ie T2 T800)
3. TV/Film characters that look great irrespective of the movie's quality (ie King Leonidas)
4. Historic figures of significance (ie Apollo 11 astronaut)
