Why no love for Hot Toys Tarkin?

I know scotty b did a good job on his tarkin sculpt. I got one off of him a few years ago. but I`m always looking to find another version to see which is better.

Rocco's sculpts have had issues in the past of being a bit large or oversized. That could really hurt this project as there is no coat or cape to perhaps hide a slight bobblehead. And considering how lanky a body one should get for Tarkin, even a slightly bulbous head will be quite obvious.

This is definitely a wait-and-see for me too.

My bigger concern is the outfit. Getting HT quality is very difficult I know unless you are willing to pay around $200+ just for the uniform (and that's assuming you can get a project of 50 people going and that a tailor even wants to take on the project). In that sense, I'm happy to see Dan Castro offering an option.

At this point, its either Dan Castro's, Hasbro or SS Piett.

The Tarkin I got was on a original slim HT true type with a Sideshow Piett outfit.

Sent from the Death Star communication division.

I have that outfit on my custom tarkin as well IMG_0198.jpg

I wonder why one of the knockoff unlicensed companies doesn't do figures like tarkin, death star crew, and generic OT rebel troopers. Seems like some of them could do a good job. Maybe too afraid to take on disney? :dunno

Yeah if this is being tailored for a generic narrow shouldered body, that already seems way too broad for Tarkin after checking out some pics of him again. And to me that ultra narrow frame is a really important thing to get right with this character. Which is why I'm more inclined to wait and see if HT comes up with anything.

It's definitely a fantastic sculpt though, and one that looks like it would be really fun to paint up.

Absolutely.

I found a great body long ago that I used to upgrade my Dr. No figure that would be ideal for Tarkin -- really narrow shoulders -- but I haven't been able to find that body now for the last 3 years. I think they just stopped making it.

I'd love to be wrong, but I just don't see Tarkin getting made by Hot Toys; I'd like to think we'd have heard something by now. As for Rocco's sizing, he's made good on those in the past, so I wouldn't worry too much on this. Hopefully Dans officer suit looks great, but I would have no problem shelling out to Yunsil or Iris to get the suit made. Tarkin deserves perfection.

The opening scene of the new Tarkin book starts out with him getting a new suit tailored. Tarkin deserves perfection and demands it as well.:lecture

I think Yunsil is pretty booked, though I don't have her schedule. Does anyone have a contact with Iris or Yunsil to gauge interest/availability?

Pretty sure they require funds in advance (hence the deposits) and pretty sure the tunic, pants and belt would be about $250 based on all the projects I've seen.

wor-gar do you have a photo of that body you used for your dr. No

I might have a body for tarkin. I had this laying around for a few years. It was from the did wilhelm keitel field marshal 1/6 body. I used the head for an admrial ozzol custom.

Nah, the shoulders are what I'm talking about, not the slim nature of the torso or arms. The shoulders are still too broad on those.

Look at the distance from the neck to the edge of the shoulder and imagine a jacket on him. Way too broad for Tarkin. If you took the arm off, that would be a good distance.

It's hard to find a true 'narrow shoulder' figure, regardless of what they are named.

Yeah as much as I'd love a Tarkin... I'm not sure it's a character I want bad enough to spend over $350 for (and more than even Vader himself).
