Due to some rather helpful criticism, both here and at OSW, I decided to re-visit the body issue with this figure. My wife very kindly donated the KP-01 body from the Crow figure I made her and I did the body switch. We both agreed that it does look much better this way. Chest is broader, arms a touch more muscular and head looks in better proportion. So I would like to say thanks for all the help. My Daryl looks way better now. My photos still suck but I am working on that, too.

Waiting for a crossbow to mod into Daryl's weapon of choice then some weathering but I am pretty happy so far. Numo head, Blitzway Scarface body which I somehow picked up for $60 in the spring), Ken shirt-heavily retailored, generic grey pants from eBay and some old boots and knife from my bits box and a piece of red scrap for a back pocket hanky.

Thanks, Johnny. My photos, as usual, are pretty awful but I really think I painted the crap out of this head. It looks way better in person. Certainly one of my top 5 paint jobs.

Yeah, sometimes, unless someone is a professional photographer, pics will always not show 100% accuracy, specifically dimension. And I agree it's one of the best I've seen from you. Keep it up man. :clap

Re: WIP Daryl Dixon-The Walking Dead

Shoulder needs to be wider IMO.

It was a tough call but I looked at a lot of google images of Daryl holding this body and the TTM 19 side by side next to my 32" computer moniter and I just found the TTM 19 to be too big in the arms for Daryl. Hehas a bigger chest than this body but I found the arms to be a closer match to Norman Reedus'. He's toned and tight but not huge so I went with the smaller armed body. And I took these phots from some pretty odd angles while watching TV last night so they aren't entirely indicative of the figure's over all stature.

Re: WIP Daryl Dixon-The Walking Dead

To me it doesn't look like Daryl one bit. The sculpt is cartoony and missing details; such as the shape.of the face. The body also looks too skinny. However I do.like the paint job.

Re: WIP Daryl Dixon-The Walking Dead

Thanks for the compliment on the paint job. Again, I fear the problem may be my crappy photos as far as your not seeing Daryl in this sculpt. but that being said likenesses are very sublective and one person may think a sculpt looks exactly like a given person and another guy comes along and says no way that's not him. That being said, I like the Numo TWD sculpts. In person, the sculpt looks quite a bit like Norman Reedus and, I think, hits notes that the other Daryl sculpt out there misses. And if you read the other post I made about my body choice you will see why I didn't use the TTM 19 (mainly the size of the arms which are way bigger than Daryl's.) I have a KP01 body which might be a better choice physique wise but it is currently being used for the Crow figure i made for my wife and therefore not really an option. And if I did use the KP01 body I would have to repaint the head as the KP01 has a more yellowish cast to it than the body I used. Maybe when ACI's Christian comes out I'll make another one.

Re: WIP Daryl Dixon-The Walking Dead

Yeah I understand the body choice. And that's absolutely correct, headsculpt accuracy is up to personal taste. As lo g as you're happy that's all that matters.

Re: WIP Daryl Dixon-The Walking Dead

I think using the oversized and stylized head isn't working with the realistic body. The TTM 19 would work better here, even if you feel its too big for him. You've got to compensate for the size of the head. And the upcoming Spade figure hands (maybe bodies too) would round out the stylized look much better too.

Man i love it, specially the way you painted it, it really brings out the Dixon likeness! I also like the eyes , i find that part to be super difficult to paint... you did a great job man!
