It depends on what's included. Didn't the elite come with 2 games plus a year of Live Gold? Seems to me like that was the better value.

Elite being $100 off is a fantastic value for what you are getting...poor Sony...they just cant compete with the price or perceived value

...but yet the ps3 remains without a much more needed price cut...i refuse to buy one until it drops

This is good news but when will they release news on expanding the storage for the 360? I just upgraded to the 120 gig HDD because my 20 gig was maxed. But with all the new features and installing games and DLC I can see me running out of room soon on that. MS should let us transfer or use external HDD's. But basically I have no reason to upgrade to the elite at this point. If I want HDMI then I can just go out and get an arcade version for a lot less and keep my 120 gig HDD since that is the only 2 differences beside the color. Or am I wrong? Sony one upped MS by allowing 3rd part HDD's to be installed but that is about all they have over them.

Here's a response to that

^^^that article speaks the truth. MS is retarded for charging that much for a basic hard drive in a custom made enclosure. i put a 500gb drive in my PS3 last year for less than $100...no chance in hell we can ever do that with a 360 besides the crazy hack i read about a while ago. hopefully MS will keep this in mind while designing their next console.

You mean, $300, right?

My bad, meant $100 off...!

Ok, I have HDD issues, but not with my 360. Its what a 120 gb, and I have 100 still availabe at any given time. I will download a game and play it, but delete it once done, so I never really fill it up

However, my PS3 is an 80 gig and I have nothing extra on it other than 1.5 gig of saved or other files, and it has 55 gig free only....so that leaves what? 25 gigs in the mandatory update crap sony pulls....that is just not reasonable....

I appreciate people concerned over HDD issues, but Sony is more of a problem to me. I should not have to worry about my pS3 HDD space being filled up when i have nothing saved on it......seriously

Yea that makes sense, since even the lowest tier PS3 is more versatile and has more functionality than the Elite.

Elite=$300, plus $100 adaptor for wireless(optional, but most get it), plus $50 for year of Gold. $450.

You can add all those factors to any Xbox model.

And even still like i said, lowest end PS3 can out-perform it times 10.:chew

You have 55 GB left on your PS3 and you are worried about running out of space? If you delete stuff off of the 360, why can't you do the same for the PS3 if you are worried about space? It doesn't sound like you plan on filling either hard drive so why blast the PS3?

Buy a 500GB HD for the PS3 then you won't have to worry about space for a long time.

the PS3 does not allow access to downloaded files such as the mandatory ones that happen every month....I can literally not access them. So, while its a decent size HDD, Sony requires a lot more space with unaccessible stuff

This is not a flame thread; I love my PS3 as much as my 360, I really do. Heck, Uncharted is just about my favorite game on any system ever....but your comparison is a bit like apples to oranges...

The wireless component is optional; personally, I just have a modem hooked up to my systems - issue solved.

Live versus PSN: one is free; one is not. Neither are similar. NO ONE can say that the PSN system is anywhere near that of Live. And, while this is just my opinion, I feel 99.9 would say the same regarding the online aspects. I couldnt decide between the two, and wouldnt want to, so I have both.

And I agree that the PS3 is more powerful (in design, not in actual application with most developers)

I literally saw the trailer to Uncharted 2 and my mouth hit the flood. Developer, Naughty Dog has totally shown what an incredible system the PS3 is....its just too bad many developers dont rise to their level

Live is nice, but I don't think it's a premium service. I do like that(since I have a ^^^^ty internet connection) it gave me a consistent signal so I could play chop free...but the only difference noteable when playing? CoD:4. Only game I've played on either system where the service was noticeabley better on Live over the PSN. But like I said, that's just cos I have a ^^^^ty connection.

Back in AZ where I had beautiful Cable with Speed Burst there was no noticeable difference in performance for me.

I've got AT&T DSL and the service is so inconsistent it drives me crazy. I STILL can't even load certain pages without it freezing up. :(

Good for you, those who don't yet own a 360 (or have an older model). I still have a 20gb model from 2006. ^^^^, I need to upgrade.

It's pretty much official now. Price drop to commence starting August 30th.

No, no word on an Arcade sku price drop (yet). I don't see Microsoft would need or want to. I don't think they'd want to undercut the impact of dropping the price on the Elite and as of right now the Arcade is still the cheapest current generation console sku on the market.

If Nintendo drops the price of the Wii, then maybe M$ will follow suit with the Arcade 360.

True, true. Still I was kinda hoping they would though as I've been contemplating on getting a spare Arcade that way when my current one RROD's on me, I'll have a spare to play while the other is in for repairs. Though in the end it doesn't really matter I guess since I'm trying to save up for a PS3 and some HT figures anyways.
