That scene in The Maltese Falcon when Bogey loses his temper in the meeting with Kasper Gutman then walks out and flashes a cool smile is one of my favorite moments in film. Bogey was the best.

yup...all of a sudden I'm thinking of Spencer Tracy too

The Maltese Falcon
Casablanca
Treasure of the Sierra Madre
Double Indemnity
These were some of the first ones to come to mind for me, as well. Love Bogart. And Double Indemnity is still so moody and edgy. One of my all-time favorites. I was going to add Another Thin Man, but turns out it's 1939! Then there is Citizen Kane of course, possibly the "greatest" film ever made. Lots of films from this decade (particularly some of the film noir films) have been on my "to watch" list forever, but I haven't gotten around to them.

I don't think I listed the The Thin Man films in the 30's thread, but I love those.
