Re: NBA 2012-2013

Reasons? Here you go:

1. No SUPERSTAR
2. No SUPERSTAR
3. No SUPERSTAR

ANY QUESTIONS?

They just aren't very good. They are a .500 team bolstered by a home court advantage that is PROVEN track record. Just look up Denver's record at home in games where visiting team is on second night of a back to back... then look that up for the rest of the NBA. Its STAGGERING. You KNOW there's an advantage there! Don't give me some bullcrap about how the air doesn't matter! If you are a Denver Broncos fan you're probably boasting about that advantage... MILE HIGH STADIUM! BLAH BLAH BLAH.

A good home court is a bonus, not hinderance. What's the Heat's record on home court? Are you saying that works against them? I'm sure they have a great home court record, since teams are always losing an hour or more flying into Florida.

If you discount the first month of the season the Nugget's road record was well above .500, so I discount your BS about them only be a home team.

They're just a good team that choked like punks in the playoffs and met a buzz saw of a team that shot like 65%.

If the Nuggets played anything that resembled the what they were playing three weeks ago even on the road they would have been fine, but they tanked.

I'll concede the lack of major superstar has a lot to do with that, but you're talking like the Nuggets got beat playing at their established level. Thats not right at all.

Re: NBA 2012-2013

As a warrior fan very happy we are moving on but we haven't won a game in San Antonio since the 1990s over a decade ago. They have something like 29 straight wins against the dubs on their home court

I was trying to remember the last time we beat them in Oakland prior to this year... It doesn't happen often.

Re: NBA 2012-2013

If they keep shooting like that have, I can see the Warriors going even further.

Re: NBA 2012-2013

That will be a tall task, perimeter jump shooting teams traditionally never get too far in the playoffs.

In college, a hot shooting night will beat a superior team (such as Steph Curry's performance when he was at Davidson when they knocked off the higher seeded Georgetown Hoyas), but that's different in a playoff series.

Re: NBA 2012-2013

There's a misconception that that's all the Warriors are. They're a decent all around basketball team, moreso when David Lee plays. Last night they shot around 40% and Clay Thompson was beyond horrible (3-13, 0-6 from 3 and airballed a few shots), but they held the Nuggets to 35% from the field. These Warriors do play good defense, and they rebound quite well, having out-rebounded the Nuggets (55 to 44 last night... monster game from Bogut!), who let the league in boards, a few times in the series...

Not saying they will beat the Spurs, but crazy things happen and Curry is no normal shooter.

Re: NBA 2012-2013

I'll defer to your analysis, since you're local to the Bay area. But the injury of David Lee hurts, as well as Bogut. He had a monster game last night, and if I remember correctly (I may not, I didn't follow Milwaukee all that much - and still don't), at one point he was considered the second best center this side of Dwight Howard; I believe that was before he dislocated his elbow. If you include Carl Landry, that's Golden State's three post guys there (is Biedrins still on the team?)

And yes, Curry is no normal shooter, and he can swing a game, maybe two.

Re: NBA 2012-2013

Biedrins is still on the team but he's worthless.. Amazing how a double double guy can just mentaly shrink into nothing. He became such a bad free throw shooter that he didn't even want the ball because he didn't want to have to take free throws... And he's making 12 mill a year.

It was Bogut's ankle. If I remember correctly someone cut his legs out from under him during a dunk when he was a Buck and he snapped it when he landed.

Everyone has really stepped up since Lee was hurt, and they're lucky to have Carl Landry, but there's no doubt that not having David Lee hurts in the long run even if they've rallied together so far since the injury. Lee played a couple minutes last night, but didn't make contact with anyone... Not quite a Willis Reed moment. :lol

I was quite surprised with the Warriors defense that seemingly prevented the Nuggets from doing much at all in the paint, but trust me holding the Nuggets to a low perimeter shooting % is not really a big deal. I couldn't come to grips with whether GS' transition defense was good or if the Nuggets were just choking. The high rebounds also had a lot to do with the Nuggets seemingly not being interested in going into the paint.

Just a weird series. The Spurs will be much better using their experience and guts to get inside than the Nuggets do, so I think it'll come down to the Warriors needing to again shoot crazy.

Re: NBA 2012-2013

It's a tough matchup for the W's, and has been for years... They'll need a lot to go their way. Still, I'm really stoked that so many people get to see Steph play a little. He's been burried on bad teams that lacked overall talent, not to mention the ankle injury, so few have really gotten to see his skills. I hope everyone has enjoyed what he can do. He's a fun player to watch.

Yes Beidrins is still on the team but he won't see any minutes so he may as well be in the stands as a fan. That's the most impact he will have on the game... a fan with courtside tickets. Fans probably do a better job then him cheering for the team so maybe its best to say he will have no impact at all on the outcome.

Re: NBA 2012-2013

If Stephen gets hot with threes u won't stop him unless u injure him. Just ask George Carl..

Dude can put up 9 points at anytime in under 2 minutes when he is in the zone... ala Reggie miller. 10 point swings are huge in the NBA playoffs. As such warriors are never completely out of a game and regardless of how much the spurs have dominated if curry can shoot as well as he did in this last series the dubs will have a chance- as small as it may be, still a chance

GO SPURS GO!

Should be a great series. My hats off to GS they have a fun team to watch...

Re: NBA 2012-2013

IMO here's one of the biggest reasons the Nuggets lost.

Regular season McGee 9pts and Koufas 8pts per game
Playoffs McGee 7.2pts and Koufas 3.3pts per game

Drop almost 7 pts per game.
