Disappointed, went to bestbuy and futureshop looking for the elite and both
were sold out. Had to order online so won't be playing for a while. Good thing is I saved major bucks on the Halo3 Legendary edition set. Regular 129.99 picked up for 79.99. Bought Simpsons game as well.
So now I wait impatiently.

The Wife got me Assassin's Creed, great game, I played it for about 4 hours yesterday, it's really addicting. The game play is slick and the story is cool, something out of a sci-fi flick. :rock
Yeah that message you sent us was quite funny telling one of us to leave so you could play.:rotfl

Congrats on the pickup! :rock

Hooray! I just played through Portal this weekend, and with the achievements from that I finally got my gamer score up to 10,000.

I need some advice. I got an Xbox 360 recently (Thanks again Rory), and love it. But I'm not on Xbox live yet. In order to get the 360 online in its current setup, I would need to get back up in the attic (cringes at the thought) and drop an ethernet cable to my office room. I already have one end routed to entertainment center from when I hooked up surround sound, but just left the other end floating until I needed it, which is now. There's about 2 feet of insulation to get through before I could even attempt using fish tape to route the cable to the office. And summers in an attic in AZ are no joke; lets just say it's not pleasant.

OR... I could spend the $100 and get the wireless adapter. That's where the advice part comes in. I'm sure someone is using wireless setup to go live. Any complaints? Any serious delay issues? I remember when I had a wireless setup for a couple of PC's playing first person shooters, there was a noticeable delay and it was annoying and I just ended up temporarily routing cables. Has the technology improved since then?

Any help is appreciated.

Well, it would depend on where your wireless router is, and how old it is. My desktop right now is connected wirelessly to our router which is like 30 feet away in another room and I actually have to rotate the computer around so that the antenna is closer otherwise I loose the signal, although this way works fine. But my laptop which has a newer connection type gets perfect reception and I'm able to hook my Xbox up to that and play online and it works perfectly (except for now of course, because of the Xbox Live issues).

I would expect that it should work fine as long as you're not too far away. But you could also go buy it from the store and try it and see if it works well enough and take it back if it doesn't.

I use a Linksys wireless router. No complaints at all. I'd never run cat 5 with RJ45 connectors if I didn't HAVE to. Go wireless dude. Very easy to use and works great. My router is on the 3rd floor and the 360 is in the basement and no distance issues.

Same here, have linksys router and router is about 20 feet from xbox. have no issues, except when live goes down, then i get pissed

So I got that wireless adapter, and entered all my network stuff, appears to have connected to network, but I'm unable to join Xbox Live at the moment. I heard it went down, or spotty at minimum. Is it still flakey? Kind of make troubleshooting difficult if there's nothing to connect to.

Also, what game should a noob like me join? Who wants target practice?

Did you run the network test that they have on the 360? Where does it fail. It could be the router config that keeps you from being able to connect.

well, it updated a "latest console update" upon initial connection, so I know it talked to something. saw my wireless network, entered my WPA encyption pw, and thought it was good. Then got tied up with assasins creed for a good two hours, which has no xbox live content (I think) which was dissapointing. Now trying to go to marketplace and the such, says need to join, then says "cant join xbox live at this time" or something to that effect. Now trying to talk to my local network to share music - results pending once I turn on music PC. Man this thing is cool.

Edit: to answer your question, yes I ran network test and it passed. Only failures were unable to join live at this time AND working music server issue now (helps if music PC is on).

Oh yeah, wireless connection is working great. Sort of cool how window media player is alredy ready for xbox consoles. This thing is AWESOME, the future. I'm talking space odessey 2010 meets the Jetsons.

music selection in tribute to the late and GREAT Dan Fogelberg ladies and gentlemen.

You know how long it took me to do this using a laptop? Let alone finding the headphone to RCA red/white Y-cable. does a PS3 have the same mostly seemless network connectivity as an MS XBOX 360?

Edit 2: so yes, I guess XBOX Live is down for now, at least to signup.
