Thanks!
It might sound arrogant, but that is actually my goal whenever I work on a custom, at least within the scale I'm working on.
There are exceptions like Heath Ledger Joker, where there are just so many incredible works out there that I can't even imagine to compete with.
But for my 1:6...
Made some more good progress this week.
I felt that something was still off the whole time, and I narrowed it down to the size of the mouth. I then realized that making the inside more angled towards the center is what makes the mouth appear smaller, so I started sculpting on there.
I also...
I made some good progress this past week.
I started sculpting the new neck. I'm using milliput superfine white for this, as it dries rock solid, which makes it great to work with.
So far I did 2 rounds of sculpting and sanding. I still see some issues here and there, so I think I need one final...
Man every time I see one of these ozark sharks I think that I need to finally order one. The diorama makes it pop even more. But they are quite pricey.
Haha yeah I definitely make mistakes along the way.
When I started seriously customizing my figures, I bought duplicate parts in case I mess it up. But as my confidence grew, and I realized that (almost) every mistake is salvageable, I stopped doing it. I just ended up with duplicate parts that...
In general I find it does help, I've done it to a couple of figures. But it's really more of a subtle difference when perfecting a look. If the figure is extremely wide, changing the body itself usually is a better solution.
Another factor is the clothing. If shaving down the shoulders doesn't...
Wow man, thanks a lot for the kind words!
I don't want to get too ahead of myself, but I actually am starting to consider this my "masterpiece". I don't want to stop until he surpasses my 1:6 Vader, which has been my favorite custom so far.
It's amazing how the project keeps on exploding in...
I never opened the bag with the ring, so after all this talk of a plastic ring I checked mine as well.
Luckily I got the proper ring with inscription. Also got the "original" envelope by the looks of it.
I was part of Kit's final batch, in case anybody's keeping track.
Haha I certainly do not. When I say I prefer quality over quantity in my collection, I reeeeally mean it. :lol
If you need any more specific advice, just let me know. Always happy to help!
Thanks! Yeah now that I'm truly all in, I won't stop until I get it right.
Here's my progress of the last 2 days.
Yesterday I sculpted on the cheek to make it a bit more accurate, and I started sculpting the nose wall thicker. I haven't sanded either yet, so they look rather crude.
Today I...
I did it to improve the silhouette and proportions.
The original body (for some weird reason) has wider upper arms than deltoids. That means the upper arms stick out more than the shoulders, which really messes with the silhouette. It's just not how the human body works.
Below I included a shot...
When I customized my Luke a few years ago I took some WIP shots of the body, perhaps this helps.
For reference, I did exchange the upper arms and deltoids from another HT slim body.
