I keep my hobby stuff, primarily vinyl, 1/6 scales and statues in my office, proudly. They feel like adult pursuits, for the most part.

But then I sometimes partake in a NECA or similar 1/12, or get given them as gifts, but they feel more like toys. I’m 40, it feels a bit tragic for a so called professional to have them on display so they’ve gone into a tightly packed box, albeit with figures visible. I’ve even got a couple of She Ras (leave me alone, I’m ‘a gay’ and I loved her as a kid.)

Is this a silly hang up and I should be loud and proud or is it time to grow up?

(I love the renaming of this thread. I can’t help that it turned into half a Kylie thread, she’s Queen! Plus, you’d be amazed how many people collect her records and how much they sell for. Hundreds, even thousands for the rarest.)

I was just browsing around and I am new here. I couldn't relate more (being 37). Still, there's some kind of endearment for 1/12s especially if they have more of a cartooney/anime look. I love the way you put it.

Ah yes, Kylie's 'Fever' era (2001-2002) which that song was taken from (the biggest selling song of her career and one of the best selling of all time in many countries.) The imagery just for the album and singles is legendary. Minimal, striking and very sexy. The tour which went with it influenced Madonna, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake et al for its groundbreaking set pieces.
Which song did Zurdo share? Please forgive the bump - I was in a Kylie mood and remembered digging that track when the thread was still active, but the video's been removed so I can't see what it is. :lol

Your 12 inch dolls are in no way less embarrassing than a 6 inch action figure.

To the outsider, there's no difference and you should be ashamed of them equally.

OR....stop giving a crap about what other people think and just enjoy the things that make you happy!
12" are barbies.

6" are boys toys. i dont know which one is better or worse.

Being in my 20's I'm of the mind that I'm living my little life however I please, though it could probably change as I get more and more professional in some aspects. Though nothing will change the obvious and brutal reality of all of this stuff not exactly being 'adult' in any sense of the word by normal people. At least that's how I see things considering they're still toys at the end of the day no matter how many extra labels are put in with scales, brands, and all that biz.

Also I very much enjoy She-Ra and should binge the Filmation series some more. Though in regards to any of this Kylie stuff, I don't really know or care about her work.

Winners do booze and drugs. Be a winner. FIB secretary.

Interesting thread. Embarrassed is a strong word. Collecting figures is weird to most people, no matter the scale although I do see more approximation for the "art" when it's a 1/6 or larger and a statue.

I recent went again my "nothing smaller than 1/6" rule for the American Werewolf Neca line, mains because I doubt we will ever see a 1/6 line for that beyond what PCS did.

Then again, I resisted all Jaws smaller scale and looks like we may see a 1/6 line there.

I doubt ill display the 1/12 stuff as I do my 1/6, it's probably going to be relegated to a sampler shelf , or maybe even seasonal with Halloween.
