Qimir to me is a joke of a character as an apothecary. Cowardly, jumpy, weaseling. Didn’t like him and still don’t. As the Stranger, it’s a different story. Obviously is a masked, ruthless killer, he tore it up. I don’t like that much a drastic alter ego and will see how this goes, but episode 5 to me is best of the show and unless the remaining 3 are gold, it’s not enough to save the series or high end merch. We’ll see though.

I think figures will come out.
Despite everything the series has lightsabers and this makes a figure attractive for collectors.
Usually criticism from a certain part of the community does not matter, for example despite everything that was said against Obi-Wan tv series, HotToys made figures.
The Acolyte (Black Series) helmet is now sold-out.
Yeah they will definitely make Darth Xenomorph.
Despite what people think of the show, and that the character and reveal was completely uninteresting, like those generic tortured grim-dark LordStarKravenKiller masked figures people jump on, he checks enough of the same toyetic gimmicks, HT won't be able to resist . :lol

I thought the same.
If HotToys makes an Acolyte figure they would choose Smilo Ren because he is a character with a mask and red lightsaber, despite everything, a large part of 1/6 Star Wars collectors would fight to have him.
Especially if HotToys makes limited stock.

This is the 'friendly moderator warning' to stay on-topic, this thread is for discussing potential figures from The Acolyte.

If you want to critique the show, that thread is here
https://www.collectorfreaks.com/threads/star-wars-the-acolyte.238253/

If you want to discuss politics/culture wars/representation, there is a thread for that in The Dark Rooms. You can message @Yoda for access.

Further "political talk" outside of The Dark Rooms thread will earn you a 1-point warning.

I mean, I get it. The idea/concept was there, but execution lacked.

However scenes of equal cringe value have existed before. It’s just to get the story moving. Mind you I’m not defending it. Again I haven’t seen the show. It’s just the criticisms have been so abundant that I’m like ‘man, even this hair cutting 5 second sequence has become controversial…”.

As for Sol’s obliviousness…throughout the show, isn’t there some kind of secrecy with the Jedi built up so far? Like, doesn’t Sol seem like he’s hiding a lot? Maybe he does sense something but we won’t know until next week right?

That’s pretty much what I meant…we all need to let these things play out.
Yeah, I think if you'd seen the episode you might have had a similar reaction to that scene. It seemed a style over substance choice designed to give the lead actress a cool moment. Mind you I'm willing to let it go and as you say "let things play out", I just wish that after 5 episodes the writing was more consistent and there were more characters worthy of Hot Toy figures. As it stands I think Sol & Qimir are the only ones with a decent shot.

The show has already shown Sol using the Force to sense others several times, so if that ability is suddenly nerfed for the sake of the story LH wants to tell I'll be disappointed.

IDK, with a 14% audience score I think Howard probably considers this another ST and will either skip it entirely or make the bare minimum # of figures (& only if he's contractually obligated). I don't see too many people wanting those last four (especially at HT prices), with Sol & Qimir being the only ones that might generate something approaching a wider appeal. But hey, maybe they stick the landing with this show and Howard decides to go all in. Stranger things have happened. Not in my lifetime, but I'm assuming lol...
And I'm certain that 14% audience score is replete with good faith criticism...

When you get to it, you'll be able to see for yourself, when it comes to this show, it is probably best to see for yourself.

Sol has been fantastic, and I do wish we could of gotten an actor and character of his quality in another show or era.

Lets all be real here, that 14% audience score is filled with a ton of people who didn't watch the show and don't plan on it. I have tons of issues with it, but the 14% rating is a joke.
The 14% is not a rating. It is the percentage of audience reviews that were positive. A movie can be a 4/10 but 1% on RT provided 99% of the audience agrees it is 4/10.

The show is not a 1.4 out of 10 for sure. But if on average 86% of the audience rate it 3/10 it will be 14% fresh.

Edit: the actual rating on rt is 2.4/10 for the audience score. 14% positive reviews with average overall rating of 1.2/5 aka 2.4/10

Qimir and Sol would be instant purchases. HT would nail the headsculpts on those. They may be waiting for the series to finish before announcing any figures because my feeling is that, unlike Ahsoka, it will stick the landing and will be looked on more favourably as a complete project.

If the show finishes on a high note that will be nice, may be more chance for figures if so. I think not much worth making figures of outside Sol and Qimir, but if HT decided to do the chair droid or a neimoidian I'd be interested simply to use as trade federation crew and pretend they have nowt to do with the show.

The problem with Andor is that it was Andor.
Andor was not a controversial kind of "you hate or love it" series (Obi-Wan - Ahsoka)... nor was it an expected series (Book of Boba Fett)... neither was a series liked by most of the community (The Mandalorian)
It was a series that a large part of the community ignored because it was boring and does not have much visual spectacle to offer. Also HotToys thinks about figures that could please the asian market.
Andor viewership figures exposed the biggest issue with the Star Wars fandom in that the majority don’t actually want the brand to grow up, move on, explore the nitty, gritty, ground level impact of living under the oppressive thumb of the Empire, ordinary people building a resistance, political manoeuvring, and all the other stuff Andor did brilliantly.
They just want lightsabre porn, member berries, and more black robes, silly masks, and red laser swords.

They basically gave him the Darth Jar Jar reveal, except without the shock factor.
Shame all the Jedi characters are so bland. The show might have managed to elicit an emotional response from some of those deaths if there was a single likeable character on screen- beyond Sol. He’s not too bad.

It also sold out instantly.
Yeah I saw people on Reddit citing that as clap-back against questioning of Acolyte popularity, but the helmet's actually still available everywhere else for same price (or in a few cases cheaper)- Game Stop, BBTS, Entertiainment Earth, PC etc.

So it's unclear what the exact situation at Hasbro Pulse is, though regardless of the show's merits the helmet is a decent looking Venom-esque design.
