Apologies if this was obvious to everyone I'm really just noticing it now.
There is actually four, or rather the cuirass armor evolves as more is added to it. Somewhat reflecting the scene/situation he is in:

As first given to him by Proximo (has no horses or tree)

Then when he first meets Lucius and first faces Commodus it has added the two horses and tree (emblematic of his lost home).

Then for his second meeting with Commodus (the Tigris battle) it has added the icons of his wife and son. (where Commodus brutally taunts him specifically about them)

Then for the third and final battle with Commodus, and his own death, it now has added an angel, as he joins them in the afterlife.

And ...what Lucius inherits.

Would post it in the figure thread, though it seems to be locked? - https://www.collectorfreaks.com/thr...-collector-figure.173752/page-8#post-10528121

Man they are really selling this as almost a remake.
Again if nothing else I hope this garners a 24y anniversary (yes it was that long ago) theatrical re-release of the original, which I would love to see in theaters again.

And maybe another shot at a figure - https://www.collectorfreaks.com/thr...-collector-figure.173752/page-8#post-10528121

Big-chief or someone else ..

I still have some hope there is something new to tell here, and this isn't just some bloated rehash spectacle with none of the heart of the original .
Though Lucius being Maximus' son might already fly in the face of that.

While it was inferred that Maximus and Lucilla were in fact past lovers, keeping it clear that was well before he had his family, that Lucius is somewhat older than his own son was (though there might be a line in the original that complicates that), clearly maintaining that was well before his wife, and that he likely didn't even know about Lucius, might be the best way to reconcile it.

Though I would prefer he's not retconned to be his son.

Trailer tomorrow.

Let's hope the bloated CG spectacle of supposed armored rhinos, arena naval battles, sharks, and war monkeys, don't detract to much from an actual story and characters. :lol

Wow! And there it is, not surprising looks like a cash-grab derivative bloated mess, horrible anachronistic music too.

Meh......

The music ruins the trailer. Stop with the modern music already. Hip Hop/Rap/Pop, all that crap has no place in period movies. Just offsetting for what the tone of the movie should be.

Not impressed after that. Pedro Pascal, even though a decent actor, is no Russel Crowe. Plus all I see now is him as a whiny *****. Why actors need to keep their personal feelings/thoughts to themselves. The movie feels too much like a rehash of the same story.

Plus, after watching that, I feel like I just saw the whole movie.. :lol

LOL though the lines are being blurred, Pascal is likely more the Joaquin Phoenix analog, and Mescal obviously the Russel Crowe analog.
but yeah, other than that I agree.

This looks exactly like the shallow derivative cash-grab suspected it would be.

And yes whatever out-of-touch thinks they are hip editor, who decided that song was a good idea should be fed to the lions.
I can picture the trailer editing room- Wouldn't it be Epic to see the Maximus twin blade beheading, redone set to hip-hop, we are so edgy.
Garbage layered upon garbage.

Wait what is this story about? And who is the lead character? I couldn't figure out anything from that confusing trailer, and it basically reminded me of every other bloated historical epic Scott likes to make these days.

It's a far cry from those fantastic trailers for the original movie.

Seems obvious Lucius(Mescal) is the lead.
And plot pretty straight forward if you know the original:
After Maximus' death Lucius(Mescal) is likely hidden away to protect him, yet somehow ends up a slave/gladiator to Macrinus(Washington), who is using him to bring down Rome's corrupt Emperors (Geta y Caracalla) who are similarly using Marcus Acacius(Pascal) as their tool in the Arena.
Lucilla is probably torn between them, as one(Pascal) was loyal to Maximus and the Rome ideal(now apparently her lover) the other(Mescal) is her son (who she likely didn't know was now a gladiator.

As long as it's R-rated and has some good blood/violence I'm in. I've given up on Hollywood making movies with good stories anymore, so I'm only in it for the spectacle!
