To me, this sculpt looks less like the insecure a naive Vol 2 Mantis and more like the confident and experienced Vol 3 Mantis.

Yes I think so too. Even the hair is longer and less curled so more similar to Vol 3 than Vol 2.

I like this update as I liked the character development in Vol 3 but looking back at the original sculpt I can see how some collectors would have preferred no changes. Perhaps there should have been 2 headsculpt for the different expressions/hairstyles.

Glad they finally fixed the hair and the elongated head, as those were the main things holding me back from ordering before. But not sure I like this more serious/sad expression they went with...

Props to HT for updating/upgrading the headsculpt cause the initial prototype one always looked off to me...and with that comparison pic above, it's clear the initial prototype was clearly inferior...looks like a 3rd party's attempt at Pom's likeness.

Given that this is only 5 pages deep though, there's really no interest in this figure. I wonder if that means that the final inventory output is low, meaning should I pick this up in case it becomes a sleeper hit? Or wait for a potential discount if this just ends up sitting on the store shelves? Hmm...

Might only be 5 pages deep, but Mantis is my favourite of the Guardians and this is long LONG overdue (who doesn't love Pom?).

Really glad to finally see some movement and the unexpected improvements. Looking forward to this one.

Those days are over, friend. HT has vastly cut back on production. Maybe only 5 pages deep, but this forum hardly represents the broader customer base. It’s already waitlisted on Sideshow, too.

Not a perfect sculpt but is an improvement over previous sculpt. Might buy if find it cheap.

looks a bit embalmed. the facial expression is similar to Gamora V1

She's such an expressive actress / character that they really should've included two heads, especially after making us wait YEARS to complete our GOTG set, never mind the wait for this figure alone. I'm guessing the PO's on this are low, as will be the production, so if you're interested, I wouldn't sleep on it.

I love the folded hands. I didn’t even notice back when I POd; I was simply happy enough that HT had a Mantis.

Glad to see they made some changes and I think she looks great!
Have one on PO with my LCS, since I was forever on the waitlist as Sideshow.

Speaking of which, I can't remember the last time I got a conversion on anything...
glad I found a store or two that can get me the ones I was on waitlist for.

Went ahead and ordered at Popcultcha before this disappears completely. I'm extremely Marveled out by this point, but Mantis is such a fun character that I had to make an exception for her.

The new sculpt’s likeness is a big improvement and that expression- although somewhat forlorn- is a considerably more preferable option to me than the proto’s soulless thousand yard stare.


Mantis always makes me… feel emotions… and the new expression just has me staring into her big, sad eyes and contemplating my existence.

I’ve been thinking of selling of my Guardians at some point but have held off for Mantis to arrive so I can now enjoy the completed crew for a while.
Those movies and characters are some of the most endearing, engaging, and resonant for me so I’ll hold onto them.

The heart of the Guardians films is the only reason I’m holding out any hope for Gunn’s crack at the new DCU.

Thread only five pages long so no one cares? As much as I enjoy it here, I wouldn't take this board as a measure of interest in a figure from a series of movies that made billions at the box office and millions of people around the world have seen.
