Violence and language. The classifications are more stringent now than they were 30+ years ago.
I don't think older films have been reclassified, they're just classifying newer films with a higher rating with similar themes of older movies. With Beverly Hills Cop Axel F, they have rated violence and language under high impact, which gives it an MA15+ rating. The previous films only rated violence and language as moderate impact.

I don't believe the older Beverly Hills Cop movies have been reclassified to a lower age here.
This all makes sense but you have just highlighted what a stupid system it is. My kids have watched the first three but now all of a sudden the man is telling us they can’t watch this one. Same with the Terminator films. Dark Fate is the only one rated MA.

I’m ignoring ratings from now on and using Common Sense Media and the parents guide on Imdb to make any calls.

Well, as a kid who's dad let her watch Nightmare on Elm Street and Predator when she was 5, I don't know how serious parents really follow the ratings guide anyway 😆

i actually really liked it as well. Better than the Bad Boys remakes. They found the right tone and atmosphere i think. Sure, Eddie is 63 and you can see it. Movements are slower etc. I also think he could done a bit better acting, but still...i felt entertained. The pace was good and most of the time the music felt right. now i want a licensed Axel F. figure from the first movie even more ... i'd prefer Inart :-D I think this whole film is fan service 20 years in the making. Only gripe, this should have also been at least a limited theatrical release, like Ghostbusters. Rumor has it, they already in talks about a fifth part. Man i really hope they don't eff it up. The last Ghostbusters was kinda meh...

I got another franchise with this, the first three Lethal Weapons are rated M and the forth is rated MA. I cannot remember anything in that last one that is significantly worse than the others. Maybe they just like to rate the forth film in any franchise with an MA lol?

Watching the 3rd one at the moment. Tempted to turn it off, definite drop in quality from the first two. No Taggart, weak soundtrack and some really stupid stuff going on.
