Yes animated shows/movies can be great and mature entertainment (Jin Roh: The Wolf Brigade) or great and hilariously immature (South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut, A Town Panic) but on average most animated movies/shows are just less mature, more surface level and often too simplistic to appeal to adults. The animation style can also be offputting (Into the Spiderverse's animation style is headache inducing, like jumping into the head of an ADHD kids acid trip).

Modern live action films of the past 2 decades have become increasingly like photo realistic cartoons (at least the big blockbusters that is) so the line has blurred a bit, that much is true.

As for this new Terminator animated thing?? Meh. Already fed up with crap live action Terminator movies, no need to add animated to the list. If reviews indicate it turned out great I may give it a watch.

Typical modern trailer with edgy music. We will see. Trailer is kind of a mess and all over the place. Hopefully it will be good.

I like the Skynet stuff. Music we will see but sounds good so far. However I don't like the AI anime stuff at all personally. Never liked it back than when they gave Skynet a face. Kokoro is the same here. Also regarding what I heard this will **** all over the franchise again and will make the same mistakes like the movies after T2.

Spoiler Spoiler:

Very cool.

First six minutes. I am kind of meh about it. It is a little over the top and unbelievable. We will see. I felt nothing while watching this. Why is there an infiltration unit in 2022? They were new at the end of the war.

I wonder what timeline is being followed for this? I guess it's possible that it's along the lines of an alternate-timeline in Terminator. The animation does look spectacular, though.

It's good but the episodes are really short. I'm already on episode 4 and it doesn't feel like much has really happened.

I just finished the series. I am kind of in the middle. There are some good parts and at least it tries and definitely there are good human elements. On the other hand it drags at parts for too long needlessly and it is kind of crazy and inconsistent. Action sometimes is on point and realistic but on the other hand (mainly with the heroes) it goes 180 and becomes unbelievably stupid. I don't want to spoil it. At some parts it feels like Terminator but at the other side it has the generic anime vibe. To me it is too big of a departure from the originals and I think they went a little too far.

Spoiler Spoiler:

It doesn't. But it references the whole series by talking about the paradox of time travel and how not even Skynet gets it, over all the tries it did to wipe out humanity.

I binged it yesterday and will a 2nd time over the weekend:
Easy the best thing since Terminator 2, maybe even T1, as T2 was already more popcorn cinema and T1 was the only true Terminator.

Compelling story, draws you in, amazing nods, references THE WHOLE UNIVERSE and the animation draws you in (most of the time). And the best?
No DUN DUN DUN DUNDUN. One...small portion, otherwise the recipe is 'less is more', with the music and I'm all for it.
Couldn't stand where the movies were going, music always doing the same...egh.

On the same level? The grade of violence:
I don't get off on it, but a Terminator just goes through it all, on the way toward it's target.
Mackenzie Davis said it best in Dark Fate:
"You put 100 cops between a Terminator and his target? You get a 100 dead cops!"

You like anime, you like Terminator?
You will EAT. THIS UP.
Gonna watch it again over the weekend in english (set in japan, first watched it in japanese) and they better follow this up quick.

9.5/10 (0.5 substraction due to some VERY small lenghts and slight yank in some animation, but this is HIGHLY nitpicky)
WATCH. IT.
THIS...was TERMINATOR!
AND...it's THE FUTURE of the franchise!

I am glad you like it. I am in the opposite camp. It is just not my thing. And yeah terminator goes through the target except when there is a main hero who can apparently wrestle, survive the T-800 and push it down to the elevator. And there are many things like that in the series. Just took me out from the experience.

It is drifting away too much from the original lore to me. 6 out of 10.
