I really like Unreals sculpt, but I think if he wants to sell the sculpt with comparability to Inart, he needs to offer a shorter neck sculpt variant. I think the sculpt looks decent when stood straight up, but when it’s brought forward, it sticks out and looks pretty unsightly.

Anything that's made of rubber or pleather will eventually degrade, but the best you can do is just keep it in a dry/non-humid environment.

I might have a phobia for animatronic babies, I'm just glad that our 1/6 dollies don't move by themselves like that.

I think it'll be fine sealed and unopened, even for HT figures.
Bought many unopened old figures before, opened them up and all were in great conditions. Also seen many collectors on this forum before, posting unopened figs and finally opening them to check after years and years in storage (I've even seen a mint DX02 unopened), all in great condition.
I would say that it might all depend on where you live at and the climate. Many humid areas tend to damage the figures (whether opened or never opened before) , all tends to fall apart a bit under humid conditions.

Either way I’m still not opening them anyways so in my mind it’s all mint and in pristine condition even if it really isn’t inside. Whatever helps me sleep at night 😂

As counterintuitive as this might sound, pleather and plastics (depending on the molding process) will need to be aired out to prevent degradation from accelerating. And these Batman figures are really not suited for long-term MISB storage.

What I did, was unbox my rubber figures, and I wrapped each in a few sheets of non-acidic paper. I also tossed in some silica packs. The wrapping keeps them dust free, but paper is porous enough to ensure that the material can air out. You could also try something like that. However, keeping these figures in pristine condition for years to come is just not going to happen. The best you can do is just slow down the degradation.

All of that said, I sometimes ponder about why I never transitioned fully into statue collecting...

Legend! Thanks for that, I might actually give this a try if I build up the courage to open the boxes so that the materials inside can air out.

I think the same thing too but I don’t have the space for statues so that’s why I never got into that side of collecting.

Many collectors have mentioned that their pleather materials have degraded after period of time (opened and out of the box, on shelf display)

So, do you mean that keeping it in box is bad? Instead, you should wrap them in non-acidic paper?
After you wrapped them in these kinds of papers, do you still put them back into the box?

Yep. I used to collect sneakers and it's a similar situation. Some were stored unworn for years and then fall apart in the box or upon first wear. Then you have sneakers that were first worn a decade ago still holding up :lol It's always a risk keeping things sealed for long periods of time.

Honestly I only started keeping them sealed in the last few years. I still have a lot of Hot Toys figures that were opened and displayed at once stage. I think I started to keep them all sealed from when I got the Inart Joker so it’s still relatively recent. Then again I have also bought older figures that are still sealed too so I think the oldest figure I have that’s still in the box sealed up is either the Hot Toys Jango Fett or Hot Toys Captain Rex
