So, I may receive some flak for this, but...

I just got mine in from Kit and I've got to say, it's... good? Admittedly, I've not set anything up as yet, but I'm not blown away by the sculpt like I was expecting.

It's obviously the best Aragorn available, but it looks to me like how a solid 8/10 Hot Toys sculpt would look, if that was to ever exist.

Maybe I've built it up in my mind too much, but on first viewing, I was a little disappointed...

Not only is this a super reasonable take, but also what I am expecting once I get mine in hand.

I imagine I will feel the same, as I was for the premium Batman.

Built up too much and the proto was SO good, the downgrade is more noticeable than say a general HT figure.

Not really that crazy. I said it months ago that people were overhyping the hell out of this figure to the point that most will be disappointed when it actually releases. Most set the figure up to an insane expectation that was never gonna be reached.

Seems to very much depend on lighting. He also seems to look better on camera based in this horrible kitchen lighting!

Like I said, I've literally just got him out, so hopefully with a little play I can revise my initial impression (just to reiterate, he is very good, i think my expectation was a little lofty in all the excitement).

I did find mine had a lot of product in the hair. Had to pull the hair about a bit to soften it up slightly, whereas I've seen some pics online where the hair looks too frizzy.

Yeah I think this is the case. This is also the grail figure for me, so I was more excited for this than any figure I've bought in the last 5 years.

I’m not buying the cloak if they sell it, nor am I losing sleep over it. It’s just dumb as hell the way they handled it. Do a stupid gold Aragorn card like Joker if you’re gonna do a store exclusive, not a piece of clothing. I thankfully can’t ever see myself covering up the outfit and figure with a basic looking black tarp. Would have been more annoyed if it was something more essential. Should have still been included though with the way they showed it off. Poor communication and translation on their part. It’s a piece of fabric that was cut and sewed in 30 seconds at the factory for 5 cents. No reason to not be in every box.
Exactly how I feel. Didn't ever plan on using it, but Inart messed up in their communication for the cloak. If someone like Jaxon or Unreal make it I hope they can get rid of that center seam on the hood.

That's why the ranger cloak is needed to hide that 8/10 sculpt. :ROFLMAO:

I feel more for the folks where Aragorn is their favorite character; I never thought either Gandalf or this Aragorn was 100% but as far as Aragon goes - especially since my shelves are generally shadowed unless I am taking a picture - it's fine. I hope. IMO that sculpt to me still comes off as 10-15 years too young.

Except, of course the *&^%$ cloak thing since that was how I hoped to display. Guess it's time to research whatever the material was - some sort of wool, I suppose - and make plans to kitbash.

*Gloomily* it's a small scene but I always liked the end of Fellowship where Aragorn is putting on Boromir's vambraces, maybe I will try for that look instead. Looks like InArt did a nice job with those.

Whilst I know lighting is a HUGE factor, in natural lighting which photo would you say is more indicative of how it looks in hand?

I was very impressed by the premium Batman Bruce Wayne sculpt, so hopeful this is on at least that level.

It more often looks like the second picture, the one with the light above his head. The other one was near my front door window. So I guess don't position him with too much frontal lighting?

I've had a few flashes while messing with his hair where I got a really great Viggo, so I expect to see more fantastic pictures with controlled lighting from other members. But in general, on my shelf he's probably going to look more ordinary. I think my problem is I was expecting him to put my Asmus GTW and GTG with upgraded sculpt to shame.

I agree that I don't think I'd buy the cloak, in Justin's video I actually thought it looked pretty cheap, I'd rarely if ever put it on the figure, especially the rooted hair version which might get messed up hair from the hood. It still would've been a neat extra though, of course.

Thnaks, he's good on your photos!

I don't use 80% of the accessories that come with the figure. Would I pay less for a version that didn't have them? No. I'm a collector, I want everything.

If there's a Premium Version and a Standard Version, I'm going to buy the Premium because I want the one that has all the bells and whistles. When I buy the Premium Version and find out there's still another unannounced version that has more accessories than mine, that rubs me the wrong way.
