I had no idea that in order to get the Ranger cloak one would have to purchase the figure directly from InArt’s store. It looks to me like that was the experience for most folks here. InArt didn’t do a good job of cluing serious collectors like us in to that.

For the longest time I had been planning to try and find a second Aragorn literally to display it with the ranger cloak. It looks cheap in Justin’s video because it needs some light water treatment just like with Gandalf’s outer robe, I’m sure if he had released his little tool kit before he reviewed Aragorn then he would have used the little spray bottle and spritzed it on camera for an advertisement.

Anyway, joke’s on me I guess. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Charitably maybe the translation to more typical English paragraph structure or words didn't work too well. Looking at screen shots I've no idea what they mean by their "channel". Plus when you put out something about "listening to fan input" and then start showing pictures of accessories, it's reasonable to assume ALL the fans are going to get what's shown, unless there's a big clear statement otherwise.

Plus as pointed out, this is a Fellowship figure. The first we see of Aragorn, he's wearing the cloak...so are we all getting the supposed rolled up cloak that goes across the chest? I couldn't tell from the pictures. Or did they decide to delete that too? I don't know what they mean by "grain bag" either.

You mean, there's never been an 8/10 HT sculpt, all have been 10s?

That looks pretty damn good to me. Maybe 8.5, no?

Must you?
It is very good, especially if you get the right light on it, hence the 8/10 score. It's just not the 10/10 absolute game changer I had built it up to be.

My own fault. After that prototype I was expecting more than 'just' another figure, if that makes sense. Those initial images and the Gandalf InArt prototype photos are what I'd consider perfect 10/10's. Never seen the Gandalf in person to see if it lived up to that, though.

Gandalf looks better than the prototype imo. From the photos I've seen of Aragorn he does too. The prototypes are almost too perfect to the point where they look sort of stylised in a way, to me anyway.

For me, a drape cape that’s properly futzed is pure class. I could picture Aragorn with the Strider cloak on, hood down, wrist rested on his hilt, maybe his other arm holding a pipe up, with the cloak hanging on his arm(s) like the photo of my Vader below, wouldn’t cover up the outfit too too much, and would look incredible.

Completely agree. I think that would look amazing.

Yeah, part of me regrets not buying the Gandalf now, but then I look at the aftermarket prices and swiftly move on.

I'm sure most will get Aragorn in and (possibly justifiably) think I'm a blind idiot, but I just wanted to share my very first impressions with some people who would actually be interested. When my parcel arrived, I danced into the house like an absolute lemon to show my wife. She just did not care 😂

I agree that I don't think I'd buy the cloak, in Justin's video I actually thought it looked pretty cheap, I'd rarely if ever put it on the figure, especially the rooted hair version which might get messed up hair from the hood. It still would've been a neat extra though, of course.
Wait, Justin has the ranger cloak? The solution to our problem is obvious - Justin can make them for us! He's got a sample in hand, so replicating it should be relatively simple. Plus he has all that black thread in his "Figure First Aid Kits" that no one will ever buy, so this can help defray the cost of that harebrained scheme lol...

Wasn't something -- Legolas -- supposed to be announced the end of last month? Or is it this month?

If Legolas PO goes up in Nov/Dec and InArt takes 2 years to deliver, then, considering influencer batch and delays, we won't have the elf in hand until early 2027 at best.

So, I may receive some flak for this, but...

I just got mine in from Kit and I've got to say, it's... good? Admittedly, I've not set anything up as yet, but I'm not blown away by the sculpt like I was expecting.

It's obviously the best Aragorn available, but it looks to me like how a solid 8/10 Hot Toys sculpt would look, if that was to ever exist.

Maybe I've built it up in my mind too much, but on first viewing, I was a little disappointed...
I also had this first reaction when i opened the head sculpt case. My first thought: that beard looks much more simple than i thought. Just a solid paintbrush job (what was i expecting, real micro hair?)
Second thought was: well it does look a lot like viggo, but something...maybe it looks too clean? I should try and weather the skin a bit. He doesnt look like just from a movie scene. If that makes sense.
Still a great sculpt and the outfit is perfect in my eyes. Iam super happy!

That's pretty much how I feel about every figure almost.

I'm not blown away anymore. That sense of wonder is lost. Even with customs.

However I do think (or hope) that I'll be particularly impressed with this Aragorn.

Get him geared up. Utilize its strengths.

Exactly how I feel. Didn't ever plan on using it, but Inart messed up in their communication for the cloak. If someone like Jaxon or Unreal make it I hope they can get rid of that center seam on the hood.

I'd actually love to see Jaxon try his hand at making a coat. His leather like printing technique on lightweight fabric could yield something interesting.

I want a coat that can crease and drape more naturally. This one's too thick and flat.
