I'm going in with even lower expectations than I had for TB. Hopefully they'll be exceeded again.

I maintain that this movie could [have] work[ed] if they leant into the musical angle and theme, compose original stories and couple it with insane imagery and a mind-bending story.
But by all accounts this movie is a courtroom drama and worse of all.....

Who is that meant to appeal to?
Why would you go down such a different and unique direction for the genre and not commit to it!

By not having Arthur fully embrace the Joker identity you undermine the ending of the last film, by having a sequel you are upsetting the fans of the first film who felt there was no need for a continuation, by having a courtroom drama and not a film of him committing crimes as the Clown Prince then you are disappointing the expectations of fans who wanted a sequel, by being a musical you are already departing from the usual fans of the genre and by being a jukebox musical you get zero points for creativity and are not making yourself appealing to the critics or musical fans.......

its just a series of easily avoidable bad decisions.

Batman doesn't need to be super cereal or grounded to work, hell I would argue that has been the problem with Batman in recent years, you can and should still have heightened elements and yes I believe a Batman musical could work so long as the producers are not ashamed of it being a musical, commit to the idea and write and compose original music for it.

Also this song from the German stage musical Tanz Der Vampire/"Dance of the Vampires"[which itself is based on Polanski's Fearless Vampire Killers] was actually originally written for a cut musical sequence from Schumacher's Batman Forever



So I maintain the idea has merit, if done by someone with a passion for the project and experience with musicals and decently composed original songs.

The release the Gaga cut movement has started. They are literally comparing it to Ledo’s Joker!

Supposedly Harley is non existent in this movie, yikes!

see, you see, this movie is a revenge. a revenge to all the people that identified with joker in the first movie. it's a revenge against the nerds. to all the people that see joker às a héro.

Sounds awful. But, I'm going to see it anyway. That reminds me, I sat through a showing of The Room, and I'm still trying to figure out if it was purposefully awful, or a result of genius from Tommy Wiseau. I need another movie like that to talk about.

watch megalopolis, the 100 million " the room"

The first movie worked great and didn't need a sequel. I'll still give this a watch though, if only to see how bad it really is.

Saw the real ending on Reddit and I will not be watching this at all. What a way to sully the first movie and literally just have such a stupid cop out ending. You can tell the director didn’t want to make this movie and you can tell he is getting revenge for people actually liking Arthur which was the point. Why make him sympathetic if you didn’t want people to like him?

Anyway if you guys watch this it’ll def ruin your view of this joker. Those hot toys sales are about to tank severely this weekend. What a joke. lol

I didn't love the first one, so I won't even be watching this one for free.

BUT...apparently its existence is what led to licensed figures from the first movie, so that's all I care about.
