Guys I don't own any Asmus figures but definitely want this one. My fav character after Aragorn! How's the quality? Does released figure matches prototype visually?

That's a really hard question to answer.

There have been a few figures that definitely downgraded from prototype to production. Crown Gandalf the Grey immediately comes to mind with the mustache and rolling eyeball debacle. Galadriel, Faramir, Boromir (with particular mention on the 2.0) all downgraded pretty heavily in production. Gollum had some discoloration problems on release.

Asmus has also hit a few home runs. Crown Gandalf the White is an absolutely stellar figure. Ian Holm Bilbo is a thing of beauty, even if it could use a warmer expression on the sculpt. Gimli quite literally holds up well next to InArt's figures. The Helm's Deep Legolas had it's detractors due to the mixed hair, but honestly, I think it's good enough that I'm not upgrading to the InArt version. Theoden is incredible, and Eomer came out great but needs the helmet on, the hair seam is really bad.

Asmus has always been at the top of the class when it comes their tailoring, armor, weapons and accessories. Even on a few subpar figures, they have never disappointed there.

Ultimately, I think Asmus *needs* to have Thranduil come out great. The prototype looks excellent, enough that I'm going to get it. I would say it's worth rolling the dice on an order.

The short answer is most of the time, yes. Some folks here would be happy to tell you about some gaffes tho.
These include a Frodo release where some folks got blue eyes but others got this sort of dark green; the Faramir where the quiver was glued in the wrong direction; Gollums where the body changed color.

I can't think of everything that folks had an issue with. There's stuff that happened that wouldn't bother me like the Arwen that didn't have a nice art box.

On the other hand ASMUS does seem to learn. I'm not worried about Thranduil at all; plus they've done a previous version. I certainly appreciate ASMUS use of fabrics and often lavish accessories. My original Thranduils still look pristine, as do Thorin, young Bilbo, Elrond, Faramir, Galadriel, Gandalfs, etc. Although, thanks to ASMUS keeping the price down, I'm more tolerant of bumps than I am with Inart. So far for me, what I saw was pretty much what I got.

Off the top of my head the best comparison I have is sort of like the Queen Amidala fig by Play Toys. She's not Hot Toys. But there's some nice paint, use of materials, costume details. And she didn't cost 400$. You probably won't get rolling eyeballs but you'll get a beautiful fig from folks who don't stint on the amount of cloth they use (too tight cloaks make me nuts) and who do great accessories, often. But there's dumb stuff that happens like Bilbo's gate not pegging into the gate properly for the GTG fig.

Thank you! Definitely gonna purchase Thranduil no matter what! Prototype looks amazing and majestic! And as there is InArt on the market, I think Asmus will upgrade their figures for the competition.
