this guy is just amazing in hand, and even in a static pose he gives off serious jedi grand master vibes! I think the wired cloak adds abit more character to the figure, and imo an essential accessory 'cause it breaks up the somewhat monotonous color of his outfit.

My personal figure of the year for sure (although I only bought 3 figures this year 😄), and definitely a must-have for kenobi fans! Pardon my lousy phone pic:
LOL if it weren't for payment plans - and even with - I may be down to 3 figs a year. Laughably tho I completely forgot, for the most part, that I had a standard ordered at Alter Ego after he sold out at SSC.

Who are always awesome:clap and sent a shipping notice, and just got him out of the box. No pics - this is one of those figs to spend some leisurely time with.

My only nits are Lola not having opening wings - probably will stay in the box - and the stiff boots/wraps. Which I will probably overwrap at some point. But overall, beautiful beautiful fig(y). IMO excellent choice of cloth for the costume layers and loving this "deconstructed Jedi" look.
Whatever else the Disney shows had problems with, it wasn't the costume department.

Outstanding sculpt, paint, hair work. Yeah, I'll keep both of them. Probably have one robed working or something, and the other with the floating rocks full power mode. I just need an Eopie to go with. But he'll have to have Qui-Gon in the meantime.

This kenobi is most definitely a grail piece for any SW setup! Am so glad that HT went above and beyond and revamped the HS... they really hit a home run with this one. Maybe they had to cos' Ewan didn't sign off on the proto HS? 😆

Only wished they updated the box art with the new HS, so we aren't constantly reminded of how horribly wrong this figure could easily have gone 🤣

Would you guys have this as your only Obiwan in the collection? I still have him preordered through sideshow but I don’t know if I should keep him or wait for a possible 2.0 of ROTS Kenobi. I really would just want to have one version of the character.

For myself, it depends on what the 2.0 ROTS Kenobi looks like. If he's of similar quality, I'll probably just stick with this one. Hot Toys would have to improve on this headsculpt for me to consider getting the 2.0 ROTS Kenobi.

Yes for me, only plan to have 1 Obi Wan and this is my definitive one. The figure itself is phenomenal and diorama base is a great supplement, compared to the usual rectangular stands that come with every SW release.

I personally like the weary, grizzled look of Kenobi in the OWK series compared to the younger, "greener" look of the previous films. Whereas I don't really feel any connection with Sir AG's Kenobi from the OT.

And this figure with its dio base serves as a nice memento to the badassery (is that a word?) of Kenobi, who in his later, seemingly defeated & aged years was still able to own a prime Vader.

You both make some good points. I really do like the base with this one and I think the sculpt came out looking great. I like how this one could represent him at his peak power battling Vader. I also think I prefer the hair on this one compared to the shorter look with ROTS.I’ll go ahead and keep my preorder after all.

He's so good wish I had the time to spend a day playing with him. This one needs to taken outside with a decent camera etc.

I've always liked the ROTS version - this sculpt IMO is a perfect segue in the face to an older, more weathered Obi in exile. I like having a little story arc of a kind on the shelf. Think maybe I'll route the SS Obi's accessories to one of this Obi - which will make more sense - the oldest Obi would have been settled for a while, and wouldn't be carrying all that gear around.

Got a notice from Sideshow my DX is in warehouse, and I could pay off - so I did. I'll have options to mess about with my ROTS Obi and the Sideshow Obi. (y)
Also, I hate getting shipments in during the holiday rush, that's when temporary postal workers get hired and I've had some minor mail thefts in the past.

IIRC, Jedha Patrol reported that this HS was a bit loose on the neck post in his review.

I received mine from Sideshow last week and opened him up today.

The new head sculpt is amazing. Since the packaging has the original head sculpt, you have a comparison in-hand. Whether it's 1/6 competition or finding better sculptors, I'm glad Hot Toys is stepping it up for the collectors.

This figure is amazing. I really like the head sculpt and the way they did his messy hair. Just a quick picture with peace sign until I can get some better pics up.

My second Obi arrived today - this is the DX when my waitlist converted (and I forgot about the other one). The hair is so well done even if a "rooted" came out, I can't see the point.

I have been on the fence about this only because I didn’t care for the show, however I did get Vader and the 501st Clone from the show and absolutely love them… Obi Wan is my favorite Jedi. BOBF was bad but I have Fett and Cad Bane from that show because I love the designs, this is no different. They have this instock at AE so I caved.😁 can’t wait to have an Obi in the collection.

I haven't opened mine up yet beyond the briefest of inspections. A solid release and decent design overall.

I'm completely happy with the look of ROTS Obi and this Obi side by side. You can see the aging, from ROTS to this more scruffy look. Before the show ever existed - as well as Sideshow's excellent old Obi fig - I'd idly think about the character and the long exile.

I think the show did a reasonable job having him do some lowly task - there's stull I like about the show like the brief hallucination of Anakin in the field and the end fight. Anyway this is a great release - since I own 2 maybe I'll dirty one of them up one day. That's my one nit, he's too clean - along with the stiff boots. Great fabrics, hair, paint, sculpt. He can stand pretty well alone, depending.

My Obi circle is now complete. :lol
