I don't think this franchise is ever getting back to its roots. Like, never, ever.

I'll always take the time to watch another Jurassic movie but I've not considered them "blockbuster" or "must see" in 25 yrs. They're just mainstream creature features, at this point.

The name/brand is essentially tarnished forever.

I agree for the most part, and though I understand the sentiment, I don't tend to subscribe to the idea that sequels made years later by other directors can tarnish the original classics. Might be my coping mechanism though, as Jurassic Park and The Terminator (and T2) are among my all-time favs haha

I think the problem is studios want popular movies to become franchises, always. And there's nothing saying that can't happen. But when you just use the brand to defecate another sequel in the name of making the IP a franchise, you've clearly lost the plot.

Any film that is a box office SUPER success is basically a death for that IP going forward, more often than not.

Don't ask me how dafuq John Wick is hanging in there. They're gonna have Keanu beating the **** outta people in his 70s before they're done.

Yeah it's a rarity to be able maintain artistic success and quality when it's all about the commerce side. With that in mind, it will be interesting to see if/how the Dune franchise evolves going forward.

I’ll gladly watch a **** movie with Scarjo and a T-Rex.

I'm just not sure how many more times they can keep selling this story. Dino's need a new film. JP has gave all its got to give imo.

65 turned out to be a nothin burger unfortunately.

Tammy and the T-Rex!

Holy hell, that's a blast from the past. Back in the day (about 25+ years ago) this German TV-channel would have one weekend a year dubbed Dinomania or something and air all kinds of (B, C, or D level) fantasy movies as long as there was something resembling a dinosaur in it. It was after Jurassic Park blew up and dinosaurs were all the rage. Of course 11 year old me loved that ****.

Fun fact, that's Denise Richards as Tammy and the kid that gets turned into the T-Rex was Paul Walker.

I didn’t hate Creator, though I am hard pressed to remember anything about it.

I like Gareth Edwards style and as long as he doesn’t hide the dinosaurs till the last 15, I look forward to how he will do a JP film.
Fair enough the one thing Gareth understands is scale he is a master of that.

Hopefully Gilroy gets hired to reshoot this movie.

:chase

Edwards is a really good director, and I liked Creator quite a bit so I’m hopeful for this.

They should really get someone to adapt Flesh from 2000ad though

I rewatched the original Jurassic Park again recently. I must say, the CGI and practical effects still look so damn good after all these years. Better than the newer films IMHO.
I could not agree more. It's sort of mind-boggling how good they hold up. The only CGI in that movie that looks dated to me is the first scene with the brachiosaurus up close, where the texture work starts to look low resolution, but that's probably more to do with the 4K transfers showing us more detail these days. Everything else is exemplary. I've yet to see a CGI dinosaur rendered as well as the T-Rex in those night scenes. Props to Steve 'Spaz' Williams!

You should see it in 3D, spectacular experience.

3D is a fun diversion for movies you have seen dozens of times already in 2D.

It’s like watching it for the first time again from a new perspective, no pun intended.

I’m no hardcore 3D fanatic but I can’t recommend these enough in 3D:

JP
TWS
CW
Avengers 1
Rogue One

All 5 spectacular.

The rebel fleet arriving in 3D is jaw dropping.
