Interesting timeline here. I wonder how it'll coincide with Prometheus, since humans shouldn't have made contact with xenomorph-like creatures prior to the events of that movie

Nice that he is going with retro futuristic. Also, there isn't really anything in Prometheus or Covenant to say Engineers created Xenos, only that they used them. Prometheus murals had xeno hands, xeno eggs and facehuggers depicted along with the deacon so David didn't create the xeno in Covenant, he only engineered his own version. Xenos could be unfathomably ancient. I mean AvP films (not that most folk count them) already had them in present day and even ancient times in the flashbacks so the general audience already thinks they existed since long ago.

The Xeno-related events on Earth will very likely be effectively contained and classified by the corporation that first discovers it (and maybe also the CIA/Military). What's great about this setting is the virtually unlimited possibilities for plot development, provided it lasts more than one season. I would personally love to see civilian characters stumble upon some extraterrestrial action/intel and trying to make the aliens known to the public (Only to be ridiculed and later silenced and disposed of "Burke-style" by the company). I'm also expecting some corrupt corporate employee selling the classified info to the Weyland corporation. Anyway they slice it, I'm alot more pumped for this than Romulus...

I think it has potential to be an entertaining series for some of the reasons stated above, but I do have one gripe (surprise lol):

The first film in particular -- made space seem vast and unexplored. You got a sense of scale and distance, the unknown felt tangible and filled with dread.

Having Xenomorphs show up on Earth is scary but it also contracts those vast distances and makes them seem like unwanted neighbours, instead of an ancient cosmic horror we run into when we leave the safety of our evolutionary cradle.

Can't be helped, though. The more you expand the lore, the more the mystery contracts.

Behind the Scenes of the Alien Earth Trailer

Posted December 24, 2024 7:13 AM Corporal Hicks

When Alien: Romulus hit the big screen, some cinemas in the United States showed a short teaser trailer for Noah Hawley’s upcoming Alien: Earth. That teaser was later released online to Alien fans worldwide in September, and showed what appeared to be a CGI Alien. Apparently not!

According to a new behind-the-scenes page on the website of Rebecca and Kevin Joelson, the Executive Producer and Director of Photography of the teaser trailer, that teaser actually featured a practical suit of a Xenomorph (which seems to have had the reflection of the Earth applied to it later).

According to the Joelson’s website the teaser was filmed in Bangkok so it’s safe to say that this suit is one constructed by Weta for Alien: Earth, but whether or not they’re using a hero or stunt suit we cannot be certain. This incarnation of the Xenomorph looks to be much more similar to ADI’s take on the design in the later films.

While walking the red carpet at the Emmy’s, The Hollywood Reporter had the chance to talk to showrunner Noah Hawley about the upcoming series where he spoke about whether the approach Alien: Earth would be taking with the series’s effects.

“Mostly practical. I prefer that. Obviously there’s some CG, but I always want to feel it in the space and have the actors reacting to real things. I had a guy in a rubber suit. I had WETA working for me. It’s so exciting.”

Head looks Covenant-y in shape, but the details are thankfully more biomechanical.
Not a fan of the mouth, though. Ever since Covenant, the lips and chins on these things have been too wide. Makes them look like dinosaurs. They ought to look more human.

Body seems to have a more Gigeresque silhouette, but is that as big as the dorsal tubes get? Are they just not in the mood or do they need a couple blue bombers to get things going? 😏

It don't like how it looks, there's something seriously off with the lips. Hopefully it's not the final design but even if it is I'm assuming most of it will be replaced with a CG xeno in post production.
