Overthinking it at this point. Yes there is a clear seam. But I think it's also clear now that it is not a swap out part. They would have advertised it with a bunch of their buzzwords if it was silicone or had swap out parts. "Interchangeable newly devloped outer jaw" or "Interchangeable newly devloped silicone jaw".

The seam is more than likely there because the majority of the jaw/mouth piece is made of rubber and is glued onto the rest of the head
who's gonna be the first to make swappable jaws that are fixed in place lol I'm so ready to tear that jaw right off when I get it in hand because I have money ready unless I can just remove the head. i will shell out another 150 just for another head

no one should be happy the material is still rubber for the jaw. its a gimmick feature that'll only tear itself overtime. keep things simple and for longevity. exposed/visible joints for a character covered mostly in black is a good direction, but they went 2 steps back with leaving the jaw rubber lol

I don’t really mind the rubber, it captures the film look more vs if it was plastic. I guess I’ll just have to be careful with it.

The lips and chin look to be the same piece as the cheek tendons. If it is indeed rubber, those areas will be susceptible to paint peel even though they don't stretch. Happened on the previous Alien figures.

Imagine a Hot Toys Jabba the Hutt made out of rubber. :panic:

I'd rather stick with Sideshow's cast statue with changeable eye and mouth plates.

Unfortunately I've come to the conclusion that this is the case.

If only they'd opted for two swappable plastic pieces this alien could've been a clear upgrade over their past efforts in terms of perceived longevity.

A rubber mouth is useless as you daren't use the feature often, just as you daren't leave a rubber body's limbs stressed for too long.

like it cant be painted to look slimey and transparent, I'm almost certain its possible if someone printed a flexibile/sturdle resin piece that fits/pegs onto the face

I'm talking at a custom standpoint, its likely possible. gonna cost as much or more than the entire figure costs for this fix but its doable with it just being the jaw that needs replacing

they really fumbled the ball here with keeping the mouth rubber for a useless gimmick that does more harm than good. hot toys has the ability to do this yet they decided "nah". but I guess I cant complain, its been forever since we got an alien lol but whats new? hot toys needs custom artist touch up to make it better because they fumbled in a certain area

It's like they feel the need to always differentiate from the all plastic NECAs and use ''real feel'' materials with things like ED-209's dome and the Alien's mouth. My message to them would be that the size and the paintjob are the ticket.

My message to them would earn an infraction here for bypassing the language filter. 🤐 :monkey3

:lol

Jaw doesn't look like rubber at all to me, judging from the promo and secret base photos.

OneMansHobby has this listed on his site for £314 but can get it down to about £305 if you go directly with him and pay via Wise.

Never heard of them before.

I Googled the name and clicked the link, but Chrome blocks it:

This site can’t be reached

The connection was reset.

EDIT:

Apparently it's William Wang's site.

I clicked the OneMansHobby link from his Facebook but Avast blocked it as a potentially fake e-store.

Orzgk.com has it for $284 during the BF sale with coupon. Excludes shipping however.
They're primarily a statue distributor but I have received orders from them before and communication is good.

Thats a good price, Im from UK but never ordered from them. I assume they'll get their batch last since its in UK lol.

I've only ordered from them once, back in 2019 for Sideshow's Jawas when they had them in stock.

I actually messaged KG about the upgraded Goblin this week because I pre-ordered him 2 years ago and he's been out for a year, they sent me this: "it shouldn't take that long, let me check with hot toys".

I'm not worried though, I've ordered a ton from KGH over the years and they always come eventually, some hot toys figures they get quickly and some take like 6-9 months for whatever reason, but this one is probably the longest wait I've ever had after it's been released. They are also good at communicating in my experience.
I dunno, it's weird to me. I doubt he's getting them from Hot Toys a year after release.

KGH once sent me an invoice made out in US $ instead of HK $. I paid it without realising, and while they refunded the massive overpayment it cost me a bit in currency conversion fees.

Another time they failed to provide the deluxe CooModel I'd pre-ordered because they realised at release they'd only ordered the regular, and couldn't source any deluxe at that late stage.

Along with their patchy communication and instances of ignoring customs declaration values, they became a nightmare company.

I’m in the U.K. and Iv just went with sideshow for this, it’ll be around £70 in custom fees and shipping will be £30 so it’s gonna be around £340 but I had a few reward points and a sideshow coupon so got £45 off it.
I normally buy direct from hk and it works out around the same price as the launch prices from hk sellers like toys buying agent but sideshows help when you have an issue is great. They sent me a whole hellboy body, the complete figure minus accessories when mine arrived with a small tear in the body & when my robocop 3 came with a ***** in his chest armour the sent me the complete torso.
As expensive as they are for us in the uk the after sales help is second to none
