And he also said that this time instead of the mayor and his aide being based on Siskel and Ebert they'll be based on The Critical Drinker and Nerdrotic!
They’s screwed now if they don’t make NY the city to be destroyed in the next movie.

Of all the places around the world to make an announcement including inside their own TOHO building in Japan or any other landmark in Japan they chose to stand in front of the freaking BROOKLYN BRIDGE to announce their new Godzilla movie!!

Like really lol

NY is known for the superheroe genre not gojira!

Can’t set it in Japan now, too freaking late for that, too bad so sad lol

Well, to be fair, before gorilla-whale or most superhero movies....

King Kong and Rhedosaurus we're both established and right at home in NY, very inviting to giant beasts.
That said yeah Gorilla-whale San, tends to have his own stomping ground in Tokyo.:lol

Great point!

Justice for Harambe our anchor being!
Always irked me that people blamed the Zoo for that Gorillas death, and not the parent.
They are one of the most endangered and poached species in the wild. To counter that, this gorilla was born in captivity, in one of the most successful programs to breed them back.
In part payed for by sharing them with visitors ability to see them, which they try to make as inviting open air, and un-cage like as possible.
To get into the enclosure, this kid went "under a rail, through wires and over a moat wall " while the parant was unaccountable, to save him keepers ended up having to shoot the one they were really trying to protect.
Yet the Zoo got blamed for everything, and not the negligent parent?

Anyway, our relationship with the supposed "beasts" has always been a contentious one, hence in our movies where we play out our own guilt, where they are always trying to get revenge and destroy us.
As it should be! :lol

It’s been a year since release look at the thread title, wow.
Just watched the 4K disc this past week. Wow, I popped it in kind of late because I wanted to sample the opening island attack and ended up watching the whole damn thing. It's mind-blowing how good this film really is. I thought the human drama stuff might drag a second time through but nope, it was just as engaging all over again.

Yeah the human stuff just works which is absolutely crazy for a Godzilla movie.

This is definitely a first for the franchise at least for me it is.

It only took what…70 years lol

Godzilla was already 23 years old when SW was released!

There truly are no words to describe that feeling in 77.

I wish my fellow freak family members who love Star Wars but we’re not there in 77 could’ve experienced that with their own eyes, their own senses.

it is so hard to describe the feeling especially this far away from it where SW is just common place, but that memory remains ingrained in my soul.

If you were there you know it.

There was cinema before 77 but it was in a collision course with something that was considered so bad during filming that it miraculously altered cinema forever.

So true. And after things like Captain Antilles' snapped neck, Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru, Walrusman and Han's talk of Chewie ripping people's arms off it always felt like some new gruesome thing could be just around the corner. I was actually nervous watching the trash compactor scene that first time on the big screen. It was just awesomely overwhelming on so many levels from beginning to end.

That Trash Compactor scene was scary especially with that Acolyte monster swimming in the sewage!
