This year I’ve only received 10 figures compared to my typical 20-25 per year. Next year will probably be between 5 and 7 I expect to receive.
lol....

Trump's Tariffs could mean this Collecting could come to an end even sooner. Well...for those of us that aren't wealthy.

They're talking about 60% Tariff on imported products from other countries, especially China. Toys will be particularly affected.

I doubt this is will ever happen. The markets will never go along with it. If there is a force more powerful than the office of the president, it's Wall Street, if he screws with corporate profits , the next person shooting at him will be a professional that will not miss.

Well... okay. Winter Soldier...

Damn, some of you guys have restraint as to not forsake accuracy. I respect that. I am still able to derive joy from figures that aren’t as “perfect” as they can be. Most of my Hot Toys figures are like that for me, pretty much all Star Wars, but I have to have them, it’s my favorite IP.

It’s almost done.

After Thunder Toys’ Phantom (Ant-Man’s Ghost) arrives, all I want is a Jane Foster HS and I’m finished with the 1/6 MCU game. It’s a very strange feeling knowing that this decade+ journey is almost over 🤞

For now, my battle is keeping away from the myriad of < $50 impulse buys out there (I’m looking at you, Pop Up Parade).

Plus Artisan EG Scarlet Witch? ;)

Is being a "collector" just the active process of buying figures to add to a collection, or can it also be just the maintaining (creating new displays, rotating out figures) of the collection you have while still being interested in discussing figures past, present and future?

I think curation and maintenance of a static collection still counts. It must be one of the forks in the road that a collector can take at a certain point.

Yes I believe so to! A collector can have a collection of just 5 or 500 pieces; I feel just as long as one has interest in the hobby, they're a collector.

Spider-Man, R2, Premium Scale Bumblebee, Keaton Bats, S-Hero TNBA-ish Bats. That's all I have. The way it sits for me now, I'll probably never have more than 7 to 9 items. They're just accent pieces that I really enjoy mixed into my bookshelves. There are figures I really admire from movies I enjoyed a lot, but for one reason or another I don't feel the need to own 'em. I guess I'm still a 'collector' but only barely.

:lol Yes of course, I think you're very much a collector like everyone else is here.

Though if I'm not mistaken, I thought I recalled you had ESB Snow Speeder Luke, InArt The Batman and an Iron Man (Mark 46?) Unless of course you let them go lol

Just a quiet one LOL

Still do, but not on display. I think I'll let him go because I feel R2 is enough.

InArt The Batman
I was going to pre-order, then backed out. Didn't 'feel right'. Although I love the film.

Chopped! Love that design -- it's actually my favourite, but didn't vibe with my other items. Texture, pattern ... clashed too much with the graphic simplicity of my other stuff. I suppose Mark III 2.0 has that simplicity but I don't have a compelling urge for it. May fall into the same category as The Batman.

you can have 1 figure and still call yourself a collector. it is the mindset.

you can even have 0 figures and call yourself a collector..you just looking to add that 1 piece into your collection.

Ah gotcha! Looks like R2 is going to be your definitive Star Wars piece I presume.

Makes sense! I totally get that - one doesn’t necessarily have to have collectible(s) of things one likes. For example I was initially going to get The Mandalorian Moff Gideon figure because I like the show and character, but when it came time to purchase, I realized I did not desire to own it (but still admired from afar).

Gotcha! (y)

I finally have gotten to a point where I’ve got a lot of diversity in the collection and representative power players. I was waiting to receive ‘22 Batman for this shot. It’s been 4.5 years of collecting.

I’m far from the collection endgame however and I’m waiting on things to come out/and be announced from Hot Toys and INART. For Hot Toys, I’m reeling over the Arcane Jinx announcement. I’m planning on getting Jack Sparrow to represent POTC and waiting for them to come out with T2 clean Uncle Bob and the Romulus Scorched alien. I also will have Raimi Spider-Man, just waiting on VINCENTOY’s custom masked sculpt. For INART, the next figure I’ll be getting is Dune Paul. I'm waiting for Daenerys and hopefully Jon to be announced, and will get at least 1-2 of the TWD trio. IPs they’ve mentioned before that I’d get stuff from are The Matrix, T1, and Breaking Bad.

There’s also been a custom runs for characters these licensed companies aren’t making that I regret not jumping on like Blade Runner 2049 Officer K and Interstellar Cooper. I’d love to have a decent Indiana Jones, Gladiator Maximus and Fury Road Max and Furiosa, Casino Royale James Bond and The Driver from Drive (2011). I’m a big sci-fi guy so I wouldn’t even mind figures from titles like Prometheus, Edge of Tomorrow, District 9, Annihilation, etc. Classics like Jurassic Park and ET I’d want to represent too. For obscure niche representation, I’d be down to have Titanic Jack and Rose, Nina as the Black Swan and The Pale Man from Pan’s Labyrinth, one of my favorite films of all time. For video games, I’m still missing Part I Joel and Ellie and Part 2 Ellie from The Last of Us series. I’ve thought about getting something to represent the NieR and Zelda franchise as well. I just love a lot of films and stuff. There’s other characters I’d consider that I didn’t even mention here too. Maybe I’m crazy.

I try to be very selective and only buy figures of characters that truly mean something to me, can represent an IP well on its own or I’m heavily nostalgic about. I think it’s easier to say what I don’t like hahah. All I know is that I don’t care to represent IPs like John Wick, BTTF, Ghostbusters, the “Burtonverse” stuff, most Disney Star Wars or MCU Phase 4+ or horror genre which is a whole rabbit hole in of itself. I should be grateful I also don’t care for the majority of stuff Hot Toys puts out, and I guess it’s a double edged sword I feel most MCU characters are not up to a decent par I’m good with. I am bit tempted by Deadpool and Wolverine tho.

I have about 20 Star Wars and MCU figures that are not pictured here.

Nope. Ditto.

I finally bought a few DC Iron Studios pieces 1/10 to represent, or because I liked the piece (Aquaman and Mera) and/or they were on sale. I enjoy DC stuff but just never felt the pull to collect, except maybe the latest Keaton Batman - and that's only if I have points or a discount.

Thing is, at least for me, my HTs are loosely grouped by films/series. Get a Batman and then I'd feel like I needed Catwoman $$$$. Best not to open another Pringles can because then you don't stop eating just one chip.

I fall into that trap with 1/5 and smaller. Easier to leave the big pieces as standalones.
