Pork Chop Express
I never drive faster than I can see...
it's cool, but I still very much prefer the previous Cimmerian piece more.
The Sandahl Bergman likeness is great.
I was a big fan of the Conan movie (along with everything related to D&D and sword and sorcery) back in 1982, but always thought the artwork on this poster was a little wonky. Valeria looked great, but the depiction of Conan wasn't my favourite. His anatomy and proportions were off and he was generally lacking the illusion of weight. As an illustrated (painted) stylized artistic interpretation it has some charm, but shape that into a 3-dimensional form and the awkward details are only amplified through the process. This statue is caught somewhere between being realistic and cartoonish. It's not awful by any means, and actually quite a great statue treatment of the art, but it is the original art source material that is at fault in affecting the statue form.I think this works great as a poster image, but I'm not sure it translates as well as I'd like into a three-dimensional sculpture. Something about the composition just bugs me.
There is a custom kit with him doing that I believe.![]()
Fantastic, based on the Renato Casaro poster. Surprised his name isn't referenced more prominatly, or on the sculpt itself, being his art?
(edit: it is in the description)
Wasn't there a version where he is holding Thulsa Doom's head? (or did I imagine that?)
Isn't that the truthbecause EVERYTHING about that movie is SOOOOO special!

Oh ok, there was never an alternate poster with him holding the severed head. It was just a reimagining by the sculptor, based on the final scenes. There is a custom kit with him doing that I believe.
Are they typically not good with their final product vs prototypes? Can't wait to see what a hack job they do on the paint.

This came out pretty good. Pretty, pretty, pretty good. Conan is a bit too tan but overall this is a sweet 1/6 scale piece. No complaints.
Yep that’s mineIs that YOUR in-hand copy?
If so, that's pretty good (sorry - couldn't resist bud). Nice sculpt and decent paintwork.
Thanks for taking & sharing the pics!

I wouldn’t hold my pics against it. In person it’s pretty close to protoA far cry from the prototype. But I'm not surprised.
Good thing you didn’t get it thenI also didn't notice that her sword is of hockey stick proportions.
