My biggest gripe with the movie is the redesigns of established characters. Goldar, Zed, Alpha, all downgrades from their show designs, and you would think bigger budget would mean doing it even better.

I agree, Kurt Russell and the scenes from the past were the standouts, I felt nothing for anyone from the present other than Shaw.

That's what's most important to me. Even if it's not a sequel and just another stand alone movie, I want more Yamazaki Godzilla films.
