What holds value better long term: Statues or Action Figures?

Awesome post Taibhse, thank you. I guess my main concern is what you addressed, and that is values tanking. Because as I mentioned previously with cards, I've lost thousands of dollars. I still have most of those cards, but if I went to sell them - I would make a fraction of what I paid for...

What holds value better long term: Statues or Action Figures?

No, I want to collect. That's why I started collecting baseball cards. I want to have a hobby that I enjoy - I enjoy sports and superheros. I don't however, want to collect something and very soon after have the values plummet like crazy. Collecting is fun, but collecting and seeing your...

What holds value better long term: Statues or Action Figures?

Taken from SS website on the Skeletor statue: "Engineered using an advanced combination of high-quality materials, including polystone resin and PVC." Again, I apologize for the noob question, but what is the difference between the materials used? Why does PVC hurt the value?

What holds value better long term: Statues or Action Figures?

Thank you for this useful response. I was unaware of the materials used to make a statue affects its value greatly. This is very important and something to remember, thank you. You are correct in the sense that you need to have H-O-T cards, and vintage HOF cards. Some things to note though...

What holds value better long term: Statues or Action Figures?

Thank you guys for your responses. Although the question I poised is pretty vague, quiet honesty I'm very new to this hobby so trying to gain as much insight, from the experts - you guys, as I can. A main reason why I asked the question is because I come from collecting modern baseball cards...

What holds value better long term: Statues or Action Figures?

Which collectible item holds long term value better, statues or action figures. And why? Edit: I'm not asking what is best to flip. I'm asking, as a collector, which option will maintain value?

    Hot Toys rubber deterioration

I'm so relieved to know that the DX08 is NOT made from rubber. All those accessories can be easily replaced. As long as the figure is not made from rubber and last a long time, that's all I'm worried about. They really need to address those rubber issues. Looked up some youtube videos about...

    Hot Toys rubber deterioration

Now that eases my worries a lot. The DX08 looks awesome and hopefully can be my 1st HT :) Edit: thank you for the replies. I'm also interested in the Skeletor statue. What is the difference between the DX08 built, and how the Skeletor statue that's up for pre-order built different? I...

    Hot Toys rubber deterioration

So it sounds like it's safe to buy the DX08 Joker? Just want to make sure the 1st figure I buy is gonna be worth the ~$300 and isn't gonna start falling apart on me in a few years. Is that figure made from rubber?

    Hot Toys rubber deterioration

Does anyone know if the Joker DX08 suffers from bad deterioration? I don't own a single toy and I really wanted the DX08, but if it is going to deteriorate in a few years that really turns me off.

    Maintaining Figures

Thank you for your response. I'll look into the UV-cut tint and see if that is plausible for me. I'm thinking since I have a wide closet, could be a better place to put figures away from direct sunlight

    Maintaining Figures

Sorry for the dumb question, but do they have display cases that are UV protected to help against sunlight? Seems like from the responses, sunlight is the #1 culprit. I don't really have a spare room to start a collection in, and my bedroom has a lot of sunlight. Can't keep the blinds down...

Hello Wisconsin! (Sorry, had to use a that 70's quote :D)

Hello everyone! I sure hope I found the right place to gain knowledge about Hot Toys and exploring this really cool hobby with you all! I don't know much about this hobby, and that is why I wanted to join and learn as much as I can. Some things about myself: I am an avid sports lover, and...
