Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

yeah i hear that, happened to me when i was trying to switch sherlock heads awhile back. so frustrating. im about to try and put new head on tom and not looking forward to it for same reason.

do you have any pliers? wrap a cloth around end of ball barbell and grab and pull with pliers, cloth is to stop the ball gettin all jacked up.

gonna try to heat my og tom head a lil bit first but no to much cuz then connector pulls out of head. i realize for many experienced with 1/6 it aint no thing switchin heads but im relatively new and it still stresses me out, lol.

Finally got it back in with some shaving the edges with an exacto and applying heat. What an utter ***** that was. I had a similar problem with the hartnell head when I had taken it off

Don't really like the paint on this new head. It's way too pink/tan looking to the point of looking oompa loompa

where exactly? the head on bod that needs to come off correct? i ask cuz last time i tried to heat a head on bod to take it off the head came off the connector piece. think i used too much heat.....

Keep applying heat to the parts you need to take disassemble :)

i actually really like the original head alot, mine has barely any 5oclock shadow and i love the worried look he has.

wonder how hard aka expensive it would be to track down clothing for a second bash with new head? prolly more trouble that its worth and i should just stomach the ordeal and switch the heads back and forth occasionally.

do like both heads, are well done and like them each for diff poses. so to be able to go back and forth with ease would be ideal.

Keep applying heat to the parts you need to take disassemble :)

thks :hi5:

I just got invoiced for postage, so it'll be on its way soon. I won't see it till next month, when I visit the UK though. Thanks for the photos.

I had to boil and get out the pliers. Managed it in the end and it really looks great.

I will say that the gums showing between the teeth is a non issue for me. It's not even something I can make out at normal viewing distances

Mine's just turned up. Jumping Jehosaphat, it's a superb sculpt. I'm terrified to try and change the heads though.

Congratulations! I'm looking forward to seeing lots of pictures of the new 11th.

The best method for changing out the heads appears to be a quick dip in boiling water...using pliers is a good way to damage the ball joint and break the head sculpt.
