BBTS to all the usual cancelers: “oh, looks like you forgot this one” :lol

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys – MMS - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Yondu Collectible Figure

Here's a question. For those of you who pre-ordered both the regular and deluxe...did you get one but the other cancelled?

And also, all things considered...you'd think that their preorders cut off when they have filled the allotment. So that means that even if you get stuff pushed to the back, you still fit that list.

I think they oversold Yondu and that's just the gist of it.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys – MMS - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Yondu Collectible Figure

I admit i cancel with bbts a lot, things just don't work out sometimes and i decide to pay ssc to have it sooner. When i first started buying from them they didn't take that much longer than ssc did to get items in. It seems nowadays that they just take forever to get anything ht related in stock, so if i cancel it's partially their fault. As to me moving to the back of the line though when i had it po'd for over a yr and yet some new guy just orders his and gets it right away? ****ing ********! The fact that i didn't cancel is the reason i can't get one now, irony. :slap

At least you see the irony in what's happened :lol

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys – MMS - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Yondu Collectible Figure

Damn I cancelled a bunch recently through bbts.. looks like I’m on their naughty list. Pshh haha oh well sideshow it is

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys – MMS - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Yondu Collectible Figure

I'm on their naughty list after going thru my orders. I'm at a 73% cancel rate, but almost none are HT figures. Oh well, screw them if that's how they want to handle this. I'll take my business to other dealers like TW and entertainment earth, who i've never had an issue with.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys – MMS - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Yondu Collectible Figure

Man, I'm afraid to go through my order list. :lol

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys – MMS - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Yondu Collectible Figure

I must be in the minority here based on what I am reading but I don’t feel sorry for any of you guys that had their orders cancelled. You guys are the reason BBTS is starting to impose more NRD’s on figures. If I had a shop and had the same people ordering and cancelling all the time I would probably stop selling to them. I might end up losing business because customers who are actually serious about buying from me can’t because all the serial cancellors are hogging the preorders. There is nothing wrong with cancelling the occasional figure here and there for whatever reason...I have had to do it in the past just like everyone else, but I maybe cancel 1 figure with them for every 10 I order. I guess it’s human nature to want the newest, shiniest thing when it comes out, but you also have to look at the fact that BBTS is a business and has to look out for their bottom line. I received my Yondu a long time ago from them and have had nothing but positive experiences with them. Every figure shows up protected and in perfect shape and the 1 time I had to use their customer service they were awesome. If you are loyal to them they will be loyal to you...nothing wrong with that. I do think it would have been a good idea though to let people know their policy beforehand or at least email the serial cancellors that they were on the naught list. Maybe they decided that since you guys cancel on them without notice that they can do the same to you. After all, if you aren’t good customers they probably could care less about keeping you as customers anyways. Just my 2 cents.

I don't feel sorry for those that constantly cancel orders and then complain about an NRD. However this is a case of them cancelling orders because they didn't have enough stock. Not because the customer was a serial canceler. That's just a lame excuse to fault the customer (as we see, many people kept their order) for their own poor stock management.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys – MMS - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Yondu Collectible Figure

Two wrongs don't make a right, dad. At least that's what I've heard.

Thanks for the compliment by calling me dad...I am a dad to 3 great kids. This isn’t about being wrong or right. No one said it’s wrong to keep cancelling...people can do whatever they want. But there are consequences for everything you do, so don’t cry when someone gives you a taste of your own medicine. Consider it a life lesson. If my kids keep doing something over and over again that they shouldn’t be doing and I finally discipline them, the result will be them hopefully not doing it again. Up to that point I would have given them warnings about the consequences and like I said before BBTS should have done that too with their customers. I agree with you all on that. This has been a message from Wor-Gar’s dad.

I think they probably got cut off by Sideshow and shorted on their order for whatever reason...maybe the lower shipping costs and who knows what else. At that point they probably had to make a decision to sell to people they knew would be reliable and not cancel. They are a business and had to make a business decision. Just so you know. I am not a Sideshow hater...I order all my exclusives from them and order from them when I have a coupon or rewards. I live in San Diego though and don’t like paying the sales tax and high shipping costs. Almost $20 per figure to ship 2 hours down the road is a little high for me. They do have great customer service though.

I got the 'dad' part from your ID name -- actsdad.

Just for the record (again), I got my Yondu (reg) from them and I didn't start canceling until BBTS made me wait 3 months for DX Sparrow in the beginning of this year. Some odd things have been happening with that company all year, so I've been tracking their behavior and have been hearing more alarming things about delayed deliveries, etc, so last month (only last month) I moved all my POs away from BBTS and to other more reliable retailers.

Hey, I'm in Los Angeles! And only about 20 miles from SS and I still get hit with the $20 shipping. Plus tax! After dolls hit over $200, it just wasn't practical to stay with SS any longer.

How funny...I forgot dad was in my name I guess. Brain fart. They do sometimes take a little longer to get stuff and then other times I am surprised at how quick I get them, like with the Iron Man Mark 5, Yondu deluxe and the Gladiator Hulk. I just like their low shipping and how well they package their stuff. I am willing to wait a little longer for those reasons. I lived in and around LA for 15 years. Went to college in Malibu and then lived in Valencia and Rancho Cucamomga. It’s all about the Dodgers and Kings for me.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys – MMS - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Yondu Collectible Figure

My favorite part of all of this is just how personal people are taking the fact that buyers are using BBTS's policies as they are listed and advertised. Off the high horse, you're (not directed at a single user) no better than anyone here. No upfront cost, pay when it arrives, cancel anytime - it's right under the add to cart button. Their T&C even says if you abuse the POL system (aka arrives and cancels) after LONG TERM holds often, you'll lose the privilege. But none of this naughty list stuff.

And all that being said and all things considered, BBTS clearly only receives X allotment of figures. How do we know this? They pre-sell out, so they do not order based on pre-order volume like other retailers. That must mean they have an internal cap. Let's go further - you know when figs come back in stock after they sell out? They get a nice, beefy mark up from BBTS. Gladiator Thor never came into stock when he arrived, totally sold out on round one; two weeks later had a $100 mark up and was available.

HT times have changed as well, with the production numbers so much lower, BBTS has sold out of a vast majority of new releases. Not a single Iron Man armor has lingered, Yondu, Thor, all of them gone. BBTS may have gotten stuck with things for a time, but that's largely a thing of the past. And if they do linger, the second SS sells out, BBTS follows shortly after.

I cancel with them, and I'm not ashamed to say I do. Maybe I'm on the naughty list, I dunno. But I will continue to support them over SS any day because I believe in their model outside that. BBTS has gotten most of my stateside purchases in the last 5 months and I will continue to buy from them. Never have I had a damaged box, I've had fast, affordable shipping, and quality service when I needed it. All things that SS has waffled on frequently.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys – MMS - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Yondu Collectible Figure

I'm just mad that i po'd day 1 and didn't get one. I can understand being at the back of the line, but not getting it at he end? That i just can't stomach. I haven't decided on canceling bbts altogether yet, but i am now considering getting all my priority figures from ssc now.

You’re right about cancelling from a consumer’s end. I don’t think customers should preorder without intent to buy. But things do happen over the course of a year from announcement to release and also Hot Toys over the years has really ramped up production where many collectors have to pick and choose.

But, specifically with respect to Hot Toys, one of the main reasons BBTS got as popular as they did was because of the lack of NRD. In a way, BBTS wanted customers to freely preorder/cancel because that is what gave them positive reviews amongst the collector base. They definitely used that aspect as a way to increase business.

Anyway, just a bad situation all around.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys – MMS - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Yondu Collectible Figure

I’m going to try and call them today because I would like an explanation myself. I did call them about two weeks ago to find out why it hadn’t shipped and if they had any idea. I was explain to me that the way their orders work is Sideshow agrees to give them an amount of figures. Bbts then assumes they are going to get this amount of figures and in this case sideshow did not send them their full order. They did not cancel the preorder sooner as they had not heard back and still assumed they were going to get the rest of their order in later shipment. I’m going to call them because I would like an exclamation why my day one pre-order wasn’t for filled but other people’s later pre-orders were.

So I just got off the phone with them and found out the reason. Apparently if you do cancel pre-orders from them you no longer become first come first serve you become the last on your list to get anything. Because of this if you have canceled anything in the past and have at least a 70% rate then you get kicked to the back of the line. I did run into about three years ago where I had about eight items on pre-order and had to cancel them (changed jobs and needed other things more than toys) as well as where I’ve honestly accidentally hit order on the old system and had to cancel it immediately because I didn’t mean to. I understand if they do this because they want to discourage people that cancel stuff a lot because they feel those people are not going to keep the order anyways. Kind of stinks for those of us that had every intent to keep their order on this go-round that it got canceled. I was also told this is why they are slowly introducing more down payments on their pre-orders. Ironically enough the only thing I’ve ever canceled with them that they didn’t immediately sell out was Ultron which I later purchased. O well. From now on I know if there is something I have every intent to keep to pre-order somewhere else. I can also kind of see where it could be considered partially my fault for having to cancel stuff in the past. I did however learn my lesson in the past to not pre-order a bunch of stuff and just pre-order what I am for sure going to get.

This is actually great news if true. I am tired of reading gloating "no NRD!" posts from the usual suspects after they placed a order at BBTS they were most likely not going to keep.
