The limitations of going seamless..

Better than having a $300 hasbro

Oranges and apples.

Each has their pros and cons depending on your intentions for the figure.

$300 semi-posable silicon vs. $300 fully posable plastic jointed.

Pushing the silicon figure to the limits of its articulation will bring about self destruction.

Jointed One Toys Jinx can make use of her accessories, whereas silicon Hot Toys Jinx will have to be left in a safe pose.

I know modern collector world is crazy about seamless figures, but for me I always prefer them to be jointed. I kinda like aesthetics of the jointed figures more. Collecting toys since childhood and jointed figures were a big deal back then so I'm still stuck there emotionally. Seamless silicone is definitely eyecatching but it won't last. I have a Disney Hercules action figure from 90s, he had a silicone layer of muscles over the plastic skeleton, which basically melted down and disappeared. I know now they are using different kind of silicone but still.

I think InArt mentioned in the WillFox live that even when you keep seamless silicone body in a museum pose, material is still stressed, because you can't match the pose to the mold shape.
I have both Jinx variants on PO, but definitely gonna be more creative with Onetoys one as she is jointed.

And then there’s me who’s never had any issues with figures with seamless arms. My stick arms TROS Rey has been fine and I’ve posed her a ton in action poses. I much prefer the seamless aesthetics if possible.

R_R_X was saying the same thing in the Lim Nathan Drake thread, that any silicon figure would have to be posed exactly as it was out of the mould, otherwise the constant stress will eventually cause it to crack.

Maybe that's where I saw that information, but InArt also mentioned difficulties with a silicone bodies.
I try to avoid them at all costs unless it's an unique release like Jinx and Vi.

I haven't had any issues yet, though I only bend the arms more fully on those that will always be covered by clothing - because if they crack I'll likely never even know anyway.

All these new Hot Toys (Vi, Jinx, X-23, Rain and the Ahsokas) will have to be in poses similar to this:

Whereas One Toys Jinx can do this because she's a $255 'Hasbro'...

Visually seamless is great, but I can overlook the joints.

I’d just never buy a figure with visible joints. Ruins the whole realism and accuracy appeal of 1:6 figures.

Jointed figures don’t last forever either. I have some HT figures where the bodies under the oufits are just dying on them.

My ROTS Anakin flops around like Woody from Toy Story.

These (jointed or seamless) aren’t made to last forever, nothing is, just enjoy them whilst they last.

I have jointed figures from late 80s and they look brand new. Arcane characters already look as a dolls, so there is no realism factor there imo. They can totally be jointed and majority of the people still would love them, like Jake Sully from Avatar. Everyone on this forum trashed on him but he is sold out everywhere, happy I got one.

BTW I find it crazy that most of the outfit on HT Jinx is plastic while Onetoys has real clothes.

I'm less paranoid about jointed than seamless. I'm paranoid about pleather too, so it dictates that those figures are only put into gentle poses, arms only slightly bent so as not to cause deep creases or stress on the material.

They begin to lose the 'action' feature inherent in the idea of an action figure, and become more like the definition of Hot Toys' Power Pose range.

If I want certain characters I have to accept their limitations. Some will look great as semi-posable statues, while others can make full use of their accessories with joint exposure sometimes being mitigated through posing and viewing angle.

I guess we differ there, but I plan on posing them like this lol, more or less. Jinx has arm sleeves that cover the elbow joint anyway, so I’m not too worried.

Rain is more susceptible to damage, but I know I’ll have her posed like that 99% of the time anyway.

It's two different views for me: I could sit and stare and my conservatively-posed seamless figures all day. But, I have spent countless hours posing and playing with the ones that I can get away with (e.g. Stan Lee, Prank Villain). Both are very satisfying for this collector.

This is exactly why the Iconiq shoto bodies are cracking within a year. Their giant serratus and latissmus muscles mean they were molded with their arms at an awkward open position so even posing them with their arms at their side put immense stress on the shoulder area. I fear this Vi will share this issue.

The 'realism' point is always dumb to me anyway because the moment you pose one of these seamless bodies all the anatomy breaks. Muscles change shape and position when you move and you can't simulate that. That picture with Vi's arm held up is the perfect example. That is not how the shoulder works and it looks ugly. These arms may as well be genuinely hard plastic sculpted into a non moving position considering they'll only look right when in the original position anyway.

Same, I hate visible joints, I am a new collector into hobby and looking for more realism. Maybe if I was an older collector that collected toys back then I would be more tolerant of joints visibility .

Having exposed joints doesn’t bug me at all. It’s a representation of a loved character from a game movie or a book, not the person or character themselves. (I’ve made a few customs from favorite books.) I know a little about silicone and understand its properties and have worked extensively with it in the past. Platinum silicone is a fairly strong material and not as prone to cracking around the joints as other lower grade silicones. Not sure if anyone making 1/6th scale bodies is using it. It’s a strong material. Another issue is folds and bends tending to distortion which doesn’t help. I’m absolutely good for collecting harder plastic bodies with exposed joints. I’m used to them. I plan on buying another OneToys Jinx body and clothes to replace the silicone body and crap clothing from the Hot Toys figure once all those things happen. I’ll most likely swap out a different body for VI too. I’ll hand paint some new tattoos on the new body and not stress over the silicone body being seamless. I’m very happy to use the Worldbox bodies on just about everything. They’re making some of the best bodies available in today’s market. (Just my sole opinion and nothing else.) Regardless of the body thing I think it’s awesome we’re getting some great looking figures from Arcane! If they sell out maybe we’ll see some other personalities as well. One can hope…
