Thicker eyelids would make this 50% better. It's the most distinct feature of her face.

The most distinct feature of Sigourney Weaver is her average-sized eyelids? Hardly. They nailed her cheeks and jawline, which is why the figure still registers as Ripley despite the eyelids. It's not perfect by any means, but it's not a failure either. More of a disappointment since HT once again did what they always seem to do with female headsculpts.

There have been some absolutely AWFUL pics showing up, last page included. Looks pretty decent to me here and the inbox pics. I'm fine with it, even with the stamped-*** jumper.

View attachment 366065 Great set. Glad to see you can pose her with her folded arms. Loved her defiant attitude. Cat even growing on me. Seems a bit too small though.

I wouldn't call them average, but not freak like. They seem more prominent when she was young. She's got a strong jaw, but just look at the headsculpt. You could remove most of her other features by twisting them a little and just fix the lids and I guarantee you it would be a step above what we got.

I have to disagree about getting her bone structure right since it's either the paint or sculpt that doesn't contour her face, at all.

Yes. In '79 especially, her facial features were all smooth. The only defining lines that stand out are framing her eyes. The figure's head sculpt misses the mark because of the weird shape of the eyes and lack of eyelids.

Look at the Hot Toys eyes compared to the photos and then the Snyderman sculpt. It seems clear to me where they messed up.

of course if you don't understand what i even mean because you cannot compare complexity of pre-Tsang predator armor to new ones because you never even had 1.0 versions, and thus cannot see why turning a complex detail into one piece mold resembles his style, that's another story. it means you don't even know why he sucks from the beginning - and think it's only because of his ugly sculpts.
nope, it isn't. it's mainly about his way of cheapening everything way below other HT product standarts.

You really don't have a clue, do you? I've owned three original AVP figures, the original P2, the Lost Predator, original P1, and Guardian.

I'd also like to remind you that I've been extremely critical of Tsang in most of my posts and reviews. The P2 Elder and Wolf are fine likenesses. At the very least, they're the best HT has ever done (Pan Mak's work included). I always thought you were simply blunt, but your inability to throw anyone a bone even when they put forth a truly solid effort indicates that your criticism isn't just blunt -- it's dogmatic.

Those are promo shots. When she's acting, looking more intent as on the figure, her brow comes down and the eyelids diminish.

then you know that Tsang cheapened production of predators - and should have understood my note of cheapening Ripley's suit looking like Tsang work. instead you say "so what if he made lots of cheaply constructed predators and made sure HT won't revisit them as they were already made, the guy tries to listen to buyers today". not the point.

again, i didn't speak about likeness, and i specifically explained it in a post you quoted.

When WW was released, we had many video reviews, pictures... in a few hours... With Ripley... NOTHING. Please, somebody must call the ONLY ONE BUYER.

If we want to know how will be RIPLEY "in hand", let's go.

This pictures were taken by Hot Toys Mad Man.

It's true: If the character has beard, scars, make-up... it's "easy" to resemblance it. But if the character is a woman without make-up like Ripley... it's hard...

By the way... I make a question again... Do you believe in guy who says that Sideshow will ship preorders directly from HK???? Sorry if this guy is reading me now, ha ha ha.

The biggest inaccuracy about the Ripley head sculpt, to me, is even with her eyes wide open in real life, Sigourney Weaver's upper eyelids are visible. The one thing that can really make or break a likeness of anyone is the eyes. Everything about it is good except for that.

Thicker eyelids would make this 50% better. It's the most distinct feature of her face.

My sentiment exactly. For this very seemingly minor, yet deciding detail, the likeness isn't working for me. I was really looking forward to purchasing the figure. I wonder if there will be a good non-licencend head sculpt out there, maybe even with rooted hair. That would probably be the only reason to consider buying this figure.

I agree. When you're posing for a photo, you're going to relax your features, especially if it's a glamour shot and you want to look sexy and seductive. Ripley was definitely in a high stress situation most of the time. If I look in the mirror with eyes wide open (not even bug-eyed), my eyelids all but disappear too. The photo you posted is just great for showing this. As for that Snyderman head in a previous post, the worst part of that sculpt is the botoxed eyelids. I wanted to get that sculpt years ago and couldn't get past the lids.

These photographs are clearly distorting this figures head. Very evident in the third image where the hair practically comes to a point and the forehead is stretched. Don't know enough about photography but it seems the lense is not appropriate for shooting this close to a 12 inch figure. Or the images have been intentionally altered, which can find no reason to do so. But comparing these pics with Hot Toys promo images it's fairly clear. I'm pretty confident she will look better in hand.
