Re: 1/6: Hot Toys - MMS4?? - Black Panther - New Black Panther Figure

Movie was great. Never knew the BP origin - Is it similar in comic book? I'll check.
Only part that killed it was
when they were in Korea speaking Korean in the underground Casino bar... Knowing some Asian language can be such a experience killer... Even Asian actors/actresses (like the old lady who had some dialogue) didn't speak proper Korean language. I almost spew my drink when Nakia was ordering drink at the bar. Does Hollywood do this intentionally? Every time they go to China, Japan or Korea for in location shoots, they hire non-native speakers - making the film comedy for that part..Probably Hollywood actor's guild/union thing. They gotta stop that. Only time I remember worked was' Age of Ultron'. they did proper job there.

I have zero interest in the Gold Jag version, but would buy this:

black-panther-costume-erik-killmonger-uniform.jpg

Or if they could pull off the waterfall/shirtless version without awful seams. With the 'kill marks'. That's his comic book look, it seems.

This look would be cool and if the gold suit includes a HS it would be easy enough to kitbash. They could have a deluxe version that comes
with Klaw in a bag :lol

Re: 1/6: Hot Toys - MMS4?? - Black Panther - New Black Panther Figure

Wish that I had enjoyed the movie more than I did. I thought the story was good and the villain one of the strongest Marvel villains yet. But while the female characters were all really memorable and badass... T'challa himself came across so stiff and serious throughout that I just never found him all that compelling to watch unfortunately. And there wasn't much that was cool or unique enough about his costume or fighting style to set him apart either.

Of course I've never been a huge Marvel guy and wasn't too familiar with the character beforehand, so that might have something to do with it. Hopefully I'll like the movie a lot more on a second viewing.

Re: 1/6: Hot Toys - MMS4?? - Black Panther - New Black Panther Figure

I thought T'Challa was great. I feel for the dude. Loses his dad, realizes he's been trying to kill the wrong guy, comes back to a kingdom that he doesn't want to be ruler of, makes it not even a day before he has this bomb dropped on him. And on top of that he gets to deal with wakanda being invaded by the first time thanks to Thanos. Dude has some **** luck.

I wish the final fight between killmonger and panther was in a brighter, more clear location. But I did think it was a very cool idea on T'Challa's part to fight by the train. And I thought the last move he pulled off was brilliant. Loved the sequence after that as well.

It was a better resolution to me than end of homecoming's final fight, or winter soldier where cap just stops fighting.

Killmonger was very cool but a little too radical for me to be sympathetic to. I felt so sorry for his story as a kid but the man who wronged him and knew about him was dead. I really enjoyed his but never rooted for him.

I hope in a future movie T'challa dons his father's mask because that will probanly be the only way we'll get it made.

Pretty sure this is the one they'll [definitely] make but I would love a shirtless version from the waterfall fight and also the King Killmonger version with the dreads tied back sculpt and the suit.

Re: 1/6: Hot Toys - MMS4?? - Black Panther - New Black Panther Figure

They already have a proto for his golden panther suit, so if they will make a Killmonger it will more likely be that. Not saying his assault armor look isn't in the realm of possibility, but I still kinda doubt it. I honestly hope I'm wrong, but besides Iron Man movies and Civil War, HT doesn't have an expansive catalog from solo MCU movies. The older the MCU gets the less they seem to make from solo movies, and that's a shame because this movie's costume designs are amazing all around.

Killmonger out of his Panther look would be best too imo, but yeah, he’ll get his Panther look made, which makes more sense for display purposes.

I’m guessing we’ll get Black Panther, Gold Panther and the bald chic.

Re: 1/6: Hot Toys - MMS4?? - Black Panther - New Black Panther Figure

Man..for sure Killmonger in his first appearance. Prefer him in that suit over the BP suit.

I agree with this. alternatively, if HT puts out the Golden Jaguar suit, includes the MBJ sculpt and the mask he wears to break Klaue out as a "bonus", then we can all but guarantee a third party will bring out his combat gear. Call me pragmatic but HT knows that sort of thing will happen and can use that to push their own figure rather than R&Ding a whole new fig themselves.

Repost:

Just finished watching the movie and I REALLY want a Killmonger figure of his combat gear outfit with his African mask. Don’t want the black panther figure at all. Just Killmonger. He pretty much stole the show. Great villain.

Well Hollywood in general has no regard for Asians or Asian culture, so this really comes as no surprise. :slap

It's not as bad but similar with German (I can only imagine why they didn't cast a German actor for Ludendorff in Wonder Woman). I can passably work it to catch some but not all of the goofs. My mother, however, speaks it fluently and she catches all the faux pas there - so I totally understand where you're coming from.

I will say it surprises me that Marvel would let that slip in their film, given that they are full force attempting to capture the Asian market now.

Re: 1/6: Hot Toys - MMS4?? - Black Panther - New Black Panther Figure

Not really a gripe with the film since I know it was a stylistic direction to make the supporting cast more central to the plot, but this movie did nothing to show you that Black Panther is a genius. His sister was the smart one and Panther questioned himself alot of the way. He's a character in comics famous for being a step ahead of his enemies, but he was unremarkable in this movie in that regard. One little thing they could have done to show this and not even have to change the plot is to have Panther foresee that Klaw was setting him up in S. Korea. They still would have had Killmonger showing up be a total surprise since he came out of left field. But yes, Panther's genius was neglected.

Also after seeing the cap movies, I was surprised how grounded the hand to hand fighting was. In the casino, T'challa punched guys 007 style and they were ok. If cap had him them like that they'd go flying through walls, probably dead.

Now, this is a complaint: I didn't like how easily the dude from get out turned on T'challa. Why would T'Challa just say Klaw slipped through his fingers. Just say someone interfered and rescued Klaw and that the cia was there. I just feel like that was written lazily.

I still love this movie easy 8.5 out of 10

He did say that he designed his own Panther suit (The one he used in beginning of the movie and CW) But you are right that they made Shuri the brains of the operation.

He's young still and coming into his own, and it gives him room to progress nicely given the pace of these movies. Plus he already get's a lot of flack for being similar to batman (personally, I hate that comparison), it's probably for the best that he has has an entourage of allies to rely on rather than being technically self sufficient. I don't think it was forcibly implied, but I do get the impression that he is a tactical genius, but maybe that his technological expertise needed updating.

That's true. They did say that it was his design, but it looked pretty much just like his father's suit in 1992.

Either way yeah they did acknowledge his intellect. I guess I'm just surprised it wasn't more front and center.

Re: 1/6: Hot Toys - MMS4?? - Black Panther - New Black Panther Figure

I actually remember T'Chakas Panther helmet looking much cooler than any of the other 3 we've seen. I'm waiting for someone to get a solid picture of it.
