Did you ask for a replacement part?

If that’s glue and hopefully not some pooled up clear coat or something, usually heat or cold helps to break down glue.

You can either try to warm it up in boiling water or with a hair dryer or freeze it and gently pick at it.

Yeah I’m going to ask. But I bought from Alter Ego so I don’t know how they are about getting replacement parts in.

I haven’t ordered from them but people say they’re reputable so I would think they’d try. Hopefully Sideshow still has though.

I painfully bit the bullet on this one from a local shop for $300. I am usually so good about preordering things and I was cocky with this one in particular.

The clean classic look is such a good one.

Australia gets their shipments much later so it's probably going to be several months from now at least.

I decided to hold off in favor of the standard tan Battle Droids myself. More flexible than the Geonosis version, though the red color is still very cool.

Is there a mix up in terms?

Figures that have been produced can get shipped out in phases with customers receiving their figures at different times. Some customers and retailers got shipments of this figure a little while ago, more are coming in now. That's what some people may have meant by a second wave.

But if by second wave you mean another wave of figures being produced, then that is not the case and wasn't going to be. They ended production a long time ago so there'd be no additional waves of figures hitting the market. Just the later shipments of the initial production run.

Meaning like yes, the first batch is coming in waves, but once this batch is done shipping, that’s it, there won’t be a second batch that drops. Hopefully they are wrong, but I wouldn’t be surprised at this point if retailers don’t get allocated based on a second batch not coming.

I’m not sure what the first batch/second batch concern is based on. Isn’t that mainly a term some Hong Kong sellers use to refer to the earlier vs later availability?

If you’re waiting on preorders from authorized retailers/distributors, you should be fine. Hot Toys would’ve made enough to fulfill those orders.

If you’re worried some are not going to have their orders fulfilled, that’s very unlikely. There’s only been one case I can recall where a distributor was shorted figures.

Sideshow and other distributors have a set amount of figures they allocate to each of their authorized retailers at the very start of the process.

Those retailers take preorders up to that limit. Typically anything that becomes available as an in stock item is either from that same initial allocation if it wasn’t all taken up by preorders, units they set aside intentionally for stock, or additional units offered by the distributor which is less common.

The initial number of unit allocated to retailers by the distributors is key. Hot Toys will produce enough units to fulfill those allocations for their distributors. That’s something that has to be done otherwise the system would fail.

There’s no real in stock availability with this figure because all the allocations to distributors and their retailers have pretty much been claimed by customers already. That doesn’t mean there won’t be enough to fulfill preorders though. If everything has been done correctly, retailers would’ve stopped taking orders before going over the number of units they were allocated.

This is also a separate process from Hong Kong resellers who are just going by what’s available more on a street level.

Just reporting what I’ve heard from the folks selling this stuff and they are saying the allocations are closed. Does that mean preorders will be fulfilled. I’m sure it does. But other retailers don’t necessarily buy from SS and those preorders might take a hit. It has happened with the large toy companies and has happened to HT. Just saying folks need to brace for some uncertainty here.

I understand, and that’s fair warning; I get what you’re saying. I’m just trying to assuage some of the concern you might have if you were feeling worried.

Because I don’t think there’s cause for concern just quite yet. And I don’t put much stock in what influencers say, which is often just to rile people up for views.

I believe there’ll be enough to fulfill preorders. But I don’t think there’ll be much available globally beyond that.
