I feel like a complete moron for buying that new DX Baleman. He looks great, don’t get me wrong, but seeing the Hot Toys Patman compared directly with the InArt Patman fills me with a deep feeling of dread. Plus, it’s annoying that Hot Toys still hasn’t fixed some issues that have been around since the DX12 - like the shoulderpads.

I’ve been thinking of preemptively offloading my Hot Toys Balemen and Suicide Squad Batfleck since InArt has teased them coming in their pipeline.
I know what you mean. I’m only happy with mine because of all the work I did to it and while I may have a vested interest in figures needing some work, as a collector, I would really like to get something that’s solid stock.

It’s pretty frustrating that me with no formal training or resources can get access to screen used props and correct these problems but Hot Toys is too lazy, cheap, or simply doesn’t care. I mean it took me less than a day’s work to source and secure a prop master cowl from the film production, it should have been way easier for Hot Toys.

I'm actually thinking of doing the same. While I am happy with the HT as is currently, I do feel like once that InArt figure is shown, I'll be wishing I had sold it sooner 😬 I'm actually offloading a ton of my collection in the coming months and I'm considering putting this figure in there as part of the items getting the boot. It's been in the box since I got it other than checking for any imperfections/ manufacturer damages.

I feel like I tend to be in that camp as well when it comes to modding/customizing a figure. I tend to enjoy the process and usually I'm pretty happy with the end result, but there are times when the work never feels finished and that I wish I would just have it stock and not feel like I need(ed) to do anything to bring an item up to snuff.

Get rid of them while you still can

Not sure why you'd feel like a moron. I still think the DX19 is a good figure. Will I Art's be better? Almost certainly but it's still probably two years away.

Sell it when InArt show their hand and I doubt you'll lose much if any money.

Well, I got the DX19 to be a companion piece for InArt Joker when we didn’t know an InArt Baleman was in development.

I dunno about selling it when InArt shows theirs - I think if anything that’ll negatively affect the pricing, and I could take a loss.

Right? People have been making amazing cowls for years now - just do what they do. :lol Same goes for their Ledger. By time DX11 came out out, and certainly by time the 1/4, there were oodles of customs that nailed the likeness where they could have taken inspiration from. Yet now with InArt on the scene we see HT revising figures. :lol

Hi,
Does anyone have the double (Joker) set with the sculpted hair still for sale? I see TWonderland does but are they safe?

Didn't Jon Deak get Susan from Sideshow fired? She used to do a lot of the unboxing video and what not for them and then all of sudden vanished. I remember hearing one of the big 1/6 Facebook group ppl got her fired and the name Jon Deak sounds familiar in that regard. Either way, he should go step on a Lego :cautious:
Yes, but it went further than that. She got involved with another troublesome individual who has finally apparently left the community last year. It didn't end well.

Speaking of TW, I was on their site earlier as they had this 3rd Party Thomas Shelby cheaper than everywhere else and I was wondering why. So, I put the item in my cart to see the shipping cost - almost $400 😲

Gotcha. I was just curious as the name "Jon Deak" sounded familiar, so I was just trying to put two and two together.

I assume that's 400HKD?

Who’s this Deak-head character? Sounds like a right piece of work.

I actually don’t think I’ll mind if InArt use slightly smaller bodies than HT.
If every figure they do has it’s own specific body built for it then scale must be important to them. As such, I’d expect them to use the true 1:6 ratio for converting actors/characters to figure form. HT definitely don’t do this; the same characters increase or decrease in size over time and different lines even seem to use a completely different scaling ratio.
There’s too much variety of interpretation across all the companies in the 1/6 realm.
1/6 is literally giving the formula for how to size figures for accuracy so I’d be expecting a figure of Joker - Heath is listed as 185cm tall- to be no smaller than 30.8cm and no larger than 31cm. I’ll allow a little wiggle room. R-Pats is the same height so his figure should be very close in size to Joker with the Batman version standing a couple mm taller due to the big boots.

1/12 companies are also all over the place. SHF boast ‘true’ 1/12 scale, then there’s Mafex who are slightly bigger, Hasbro take it another step up, and Mezco and like 6.5 inch as standard from what I recall so a company that actually takes accurate scaling into account would be most welcome.

I watched this due to the reference in the Clerks cartoon.

I Googled* what "is it safe?" was, and watched MM as a result. So while dumb, throwaway references can be cheap comedy or just "Hey remember this? Please laugh!" (Family Guy), sometimes they lead you to check out actual cool things.

*This was ~2000, so not actually Google. Probably Altavista like a good citizen of Pawnee.

Deak was all over Terry Smiths livestream last weekend. Hadn’t noticed him commenting previously on those streams but he may have been fresh in my mind because of the comments about him on here recently.
