Oh no, DiFabio! Hope he fell without incident.

Clearly these bases need much stronger (larger) magnets... but the sloped shape of the toes under the shoes I'm sure is contributing. If he had flat feet, the gentle lean forward would be stopped.

Is it possible to open the base without damage and simply add/replace the small magnets with larger/stronger ones?

I don't use bases myself, so I'm hoping this figure is weighted in a way where I can get him to stand without the base.

I think they’ll stand better without the bases.

My interrogation Jail Cell Joker is standing without support and is fine. I think the magnetic base positioning forces the feet in an unnatural way

I don't use bases myself, so I'm hoping this figure is weighted in a way where I can get him to stand without the base.

The body feels very sturdy, like a HT essentially.
I haven't even taken the stand out of the box and haven't had an incident in the 1.5 months I've had him on display.

I wonder if the magnet actually "pulls" the figure's foot toward the up-slope of the shoe over time? Thus actually forcing a fall.

I bet if someone gently sanded the bottom of the sole at the ball of the foot -- just sanded a flat spot -- I bet the figure would have a more solid stance and not fall over.

I've had no issues with my magnets - I even did the upside down test and they are very strong. However, I noticed you really need to futz with them to find the sweet spot. That would be my main con with this type of base - it's very limiting. Although my issues are quickly absolved with how great the figure looks. Thankfully Joker isn't this super dynamic character so keeping him in a simple pose works perfect for me.

Yeah, I had to figure out how to get it positioned in that awfully finicky sweet spot for the magnets, basically pre posed and futz it, then just maneuver the legs to the stronger magnet part

The magnets work great, I push my figure around at the shoulder before leaving it for a while and I haven't been able to get it to fall. I don't see it falling unless the big one hits. If that happens I expect to have bigger problems than a joker toy. I sense the magnetically receptive material in the shoes is in the heel with none present in the ball of the foot at all.

In my experience, if the figure can stand in the pose without the stand and then you carefully position it over the magnets, it's not going anywhere. I just wonder if all the ones falling are user error or if there's inconsistency in the magnet strength.

Maybe people are assuming the magnets are in the ball of the foot as well so that is hampering their positioning. The heel makes sense as its the only flat surface... so balance your figure on its heels first.

Maybe people are assuming the magnets are in the ball of the foot as well so that is hampering their positioning. The heel makes sense as its the only flat surface... so balance your figure on its heels first.

It's possible if they aren't using the same supplier for all of them that they could be different. It's also possible to have different materials in the heels as I suspect those are just metal and not magnets. If some have nickel heels and some have steel heels then it could make a big difference. I would hope InArt wouldn't do that but there's the sticky tack thing so it's possible. I would lean towards most of this being user error though.

This is what I want Hot Toys to implement. It’s so easy but critical when they implement new bodies, like single jointed female boides (Bo-Katan). I’m sure there’re been instances of breakage due to not knowing how joints work, due to fabric overlay. It doesn’t cost much at all.



He’s got quite a dead stare straight out of the white wrapper. But… What a figure!

Can confirm the magnets in the feet of my Jail Cell Joker are stronger and adhere to the base better than my purple coat regular. The regular can’t pass the upside down test. I believe it’s the magnet in the left shoe.

Well now that is very interesting. Good test, using both figures. So it may be one "weak" magnet?

Yes. That was confirmed multiple times. Left side is a magnet so he can hold the lapel to reveal the grenade gag.

Check the inside of the shoe, maybe they used sticky tac instead
