That modelling clay really comes in handy!
I have used it to make a mullet on my custom Patrick Swayze Roadhouse figure, sculpt hair for Indy, fill in broken bits of a sculpt and to make long claw fingers for my custom The Thing figures. I will use it to make the shishkebab as well. I think a half decent sized knitting needle would do with the clay bits around it.

Stiffen Quik is the product.I did it to my Kato set (as well as to my full scale jackets), and it looks great.
I think on synthetic materials (like the HT or even SS jackets), a product was applied (possibly a starch) to allow it to keep the wrinkles in place. I believe Jake did something like this to the Yunsil set he worked on awhile back.
